I feel sure I've seen a Turbo Express branded case, but google offers up nothing. Are these rare?
Never remember seeing a GT one. Currently and for the last 15 years or so I have a Logic 3 gamegear case. On the plus side, it's snug, very well padded (about 1" every side) and holds as many games as I'd ever need.
On the downside, it's as big as a GT expanded 1" in every direction. And I also use it for my Nomad (although there aren't many times I'd want to carry them both around at once).
I think if there was an official case it might be something I'd like to own.
*edit* I see there's actually two kinds, an Orange one, and the (IMO, far nicer) black one.

Nothing on the bay though

Yes, there was at least one official one.
This was listed for sale here some time ago.

Those cases were sold through TTI and TZD. I have one from then. It appears that the foam they used breaks down over time and every one has rot issues inside. You could clean it out and fill it with a different padding, but it's a shame because the foam was actually molded to perfectly fit the express and tuner (and I think about 8 hucards).
I've always kept mine climate controlled, but the dry rot still got to it. Does anyone have one of these that doesn't have that problem?

Nope, but it's good you mentioned this so I know to avoid buying one.
-
Oh right, that's a 3rd one. I've not seen a GT case, but the black one I hot-linked to was more of a pouch.
There is actually one on eBay but it's £690. It does come with a free TE though ;)

I have 2 different Turbo Express cases but I've never seen a case for the GT. I'll post photos later if you want to see them.

Yes please Hoobs. I wonder how often they appear for sale?
-
First up is the Turbo Express Fannypack with padded lining for the system and separate zippered area for games, batteries, etc.
Second is the TTI Case...I think the previous owner made their own custom sticker and added foam since it doesn't appear to be a legit TTI product.

The final case has an NEC logo on it. I was gonna get some foam and store my PC Engine LT inside since it matches in color but haven't got around to doing that yet.

Badass Hoobs! That fanny pack is killer! I need one to complete my look and carry my GT everywhere I go
-
Heheh, cool :D Maybe I'll take a photo of mine and post it up

Henry, is this the one you mentioned before with the foam that rots?

I think this was the only one sold in stores in the typical black and orange retail TG16 packaging. It's a shame that the foam has broken down in these. Mine was stored(empty) in a hot attic for about 10 years and it only has a slight crumbling on one of the dividers so I'm not sure how temps factor in to the foam rotting. My father actually designed these back in the day and I don't think they took into account what the foam would do 25 years down the road.

I don't recall ever seeing an official PCE GT case. If one exists it's probably extremely rare.
Here's what I've been using. I think it was a case for an old IBM pocket PC. It fits like a glove. :)

That's an awesome little carrying case you've got there, csgx1.
Here's what I use for a carrying case. It bulky and ugly, but has a sort of '90s charm that I find appealing. It doesn't get out a whole lot, but I like taking it on RV trips and plan on taking it with me to San Diego later this month.

Here it is closed.

Here it is open. It's nice to be able to carry around a half dozen games, and AC adapter, Turbo Vision (well, used to enjoy that one), Car Adapter, oodles of AA batteries, and a few manuals (or a small notepad and pencil for passwords), but man it's heavy and attracts a lot of funny looks. :P
Please excuse the horrible masking job on the images. I cranked these out really quickly.

Thanks. It is 'little' and unfortunately can't hold any extras unlike yours.
Yours definitely has more functionality. The interior reminds me a lot of the official Atari Lynx carrying case. I like how you can carry an endless supply of power. You can do some portable gaming for days! :D
-
I really like yours CSGX1. Sturdy enough to protect, but small enough not to add too much bulk.

Wow, you're right, it does look a lot like an old Lynx case, only gaudier! (I found this image on flickr)

If it were up to me, I wouldn't have any logos or text on the case indicating what's inside. A big NEC logo (or in my case "Game Tote") just screams "Steal Me!"
-
I store my 'Express in a hard plastic pistol case. It's quite bulky, but it was cheap, sturdy as hell, and there's plenty of room for the AC adapter, car adapter, link, tuner, etc.
-
Wow, I am super slow responding to this.
Dan, The one that Hoobs has (with the Zonk sticker) looks very much like the Travel Master case. That one was a generic case that you could pull the foam out in pieces to fit whatever setup you had. (Express, Lynx, Turds) This one does not have issues with the foam rotting that I am aware of. Here's a pic of mine.

The Turbo Express branded one was made with custom molded foam to fit the express/vision precisely. I loved that case, but unfortunately the foam that was used does not hold up. Every one that I have seen has issues with the foam. Here are pics.

Hoobs, That NEC branded case you have is Badass! What was it made for?
-
I have no idea what the NEC branded case was made for. I got it from ebay a year or two ago.
-
how hard is it to custom cut foam? I'd like to try to make my own :)
-
If someone on here won this, I would love to see pics of the inside of the case:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/TurboExpress-Handheld-TurboGrafx-Video-Game-System-TurboVision-TV-Tuner-Case-/270841480403?pt=Video_Games&hash=item3f0f6904d3#ht_500wt_1320
I emailed the seller and asked about the foam. He claimed that it does NOT exhibit the dry rot issue that mine and the 4 others I have seen all have.
-
Agreed - I was watching that one myself. I was really only interested because of the case.
