Title: Hey all!
Post by: Metallica Man X on February 04, 2012, 06:55:21 PM
New guy here...if anyone recognizes the name from some other message board, I could be the same person as I use the same username on every message board I'm on, so if anyone knows me, speak up lol.
I'm new to the whole TG-16 scene here, but looking to get into it to add some more kewlness to my collection.
I'm hoping to find one at the upcoming Midwest Gaming Classic...though, if I don't find one there, i'll probably just search one out on ebay or something haha.
So with that said, what would be some good games/accessories to get started with?

What you want, is a Duo R.
The other thing you need to know is that Metallica really really sucks.

Hey alone!
Welcome aboard :)
And yeah what zeta said. At least a DUO model it is.

Hahahah, they really do ^_____^
Welcome to the forum!

Well, Metallica doesn't REALLY suck. They suck anymore, for sure. They had a few really classic tunes, though. For Whom the Bell Tolls, Welcome Home, and 2 or 3 others.

Metallica does NOT suck .... in the year 1988.

That's true. I nearly wore out my And Justice For All tape while skating around town at midnight.
However I'm sure Donald Trump wasn't a total douche when he was 6 years old either. He certainly is now though, and likewise Metalica have become a band more hate-able than almost any other, and they've been like this for well over half their career. So, overall, they suck.

I liked Metallica until the fuxed up the original Napster. (https://encrypted-tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT_Dd2ItXPeYKixZypYffyyGfeXbP7H9Zg91TPGojA0aTdZz9dihw)

Absolutely right Zeta. I liked them until they released Load. BTW, I'm sure Trump WAS a turd when he was six. :-D

I could even say they were good up until the Black album. When Load hit in 1996, everything changed.

When Dream Theater played Master of Puppets better than Metallica, I just gave up Heavy Metal all together.
And much better than being shot in the nuts with a machine gun. So what?
So some people have differing opinions about which bands qualify as 'most hateable'. Imagine that.

Lars and the whole Napster thing shouldn't be a reason for people to dislike Metallica. I mean, what the hell does that have anything to do with the music they make?
Just because Lars likes to wear womens panties while playing with Furby and Domokun, doesnt mean that Metallica's albums suck.
I mean comon, be realistic. Yeah it all went downhill after Load and Re-Load, but for some people those were actually great albums. They are very original records. It's almost like Metallica has played 2 different original styles of music.
Whenever I ask an old school metalhead what is your opinion on Metallica. I get that same shit "well, ughhh, uhh there old stuff is cool, but Load and Reload sucks, they sold out"
Can anyone formulate their own opinion these days?

Not if they're worried about what others will think of them.

Honestly, the Napster barely even rates as a reason I hate Metalica. The main problem is that they are money worshiping a$$holes and completely unaplogetic about it. They covered Bob Seger and made something *less* intense in the process (this should be impossible). They squandered their position as the future of metal and turned into the poster children for the worst aspects of it, taking down the entire genre in the process. They endorse using their music as a means of torturing POWs, they helped ruin American rock radio completely, f*ck those guys.
Their main purpose in the word is to serve as filler for NuRock stations who's only listeners are people who, apparently, hate music. In other words, they have no purpose.
Meanwhile, many real metal bands carry on, completely unbeknownst to those that would rather hear Metallica's shitty dirge interspersed with ads for used car lots and discount furniture.

I agree with what you are saying but what does any of this have to do with their music and their skills?
What does anything you said have to do with Ride The Lighting? or Kill Em All? both epic albums.
Just because Kirk Hammett has money coming out of his sell-out arse doesnt mean he is not top 10 best Metal guitarists ever. Because clearly he is. It would be stupid to even argue about that. No point just to argue because its fun.
Title: Re: Hey all!
Post by: SignOfZeta on February 06, 2012, 09:12:53 AM
I wouldn't hate a band just because they suck. There are loads and loads of shitty bands. I don't give a crap either way. I mean, they are better at metal than, say, myself, but I don't like them more than I like myself just because they did Unforgiven 2. That would be insane.
Bands like Black Eyed Peas and Metallica on the other hand suck and take shilling to the next level. That's when they become hate-able.
Blackened is a f*cking AWESOME song, and it always will be. Metallica as a band though, as a unit, as human beings, just...went bad. Once salt loses its saltiness...
BTW, I think it's pretty funny that the OP was scared off from the point of my first post and hasn't come back.

I agree with what you are trying to say, thats why most of the things I listen to are pretty much underground.
but who gives a crap how Metallica are as human beings?
why do you care? do you go to Lars house every weekend and play Turbo Duo?
I mean who gives a flying shit what musicians are like as human beings? How does that affect you listening to their music?
Philip Anselmo is a complete piece of shit. That doesn't stop me from liking Pantera. I like some Guns and Roses eventho Axl is a complete douchebag. etc etc.

I have a hard time enjoying music made by people I know are complete dicks. I'd rather listen to bad music by good people than the opposite. People like James Brown are borderline, but Metallica are way way past the line. Character matters to me, what can I say? There is more good music made by good people than I'll ever have time to listen to in my life. I see no reason to give time to old fogey dick sellouts like Metallica, and as for actually giving them money...obviously not.
Enough of this bullshit. Can we please talk about how much Pantera and GNR suck now?

how do you know that all the music you listen to is made by good people? Do you know them personally?
I bet you there is music that you listen to and love that is made by complete douchebags and dickheads.
How do you know who is really behind the artists that you like?
I mean comon, you are trying to tell me that ALL the music you listen to are great goodfy too shoo people? that they are all peachy good people?
I am by no means defending Metallica or trying to argue with you. I am just telling you that there is no way of knowing if the people who's music you love are good or bad people.
That's why its better to listen just for the music.
I don't care if Michael Jackson had steamy hot sex with little kids. Thriller is still an awesome song, and it will always be an awesome song and he made many great albums.
Really mate, who gives a f*ck who these people are in their stupid Real Life.

So you'd buy a Mercedes in 1941? That's fine. I just won't buy your album.
Obviously I own music made by dickheads. I even own some stuff by Metallica. The difference is that I have been HUGELY overexposed to this band so I'm acutely aware of what dicks they are. It's unavoidable. I can't NOT know what a$$holes they are, therefore it's impossible for me to not think about it.
When I'm listening to someone's music it's like I'm inviting them into my brain to party with me. I've never met anyone from Metallica, but I'm pretty sure I couldn't stand to be in the same room with one of those pricks for 5 minutes, so why would I want to listen to one of their songs? I mean, there is a SHITLOAD of good metal out there. Hundreds of hours of the stuff. Metalica now belongs with crap like Drowning Pool and Godsmack other other white trash macho shit. Its about as "metal" as Dick Cheney.
They are not cool. People. At all. I enjoy music from 25 years ago back when they didn't suck and weren't at all rich shills for their label, but now they personally, and their music, are horrible. f*ck them.

I mean, what the hell does that have anything to do with the music they make?
By asserting their right to claim "unpaid royalites" on shared songs within the file-sharing service, this led to the prosecution of several faithful Metallica fans for hundreds and thousands of dollars, and other unwitting people who happened to have Metallica songs in their shared folder, including several students. In other works, it led to them f*cking over their fans.
I mean comon, be realistic. Yeah it all went downhill after Load and Re-Load, but for some people those were actually great albums. They are very original records. It's almost like Metallica has played 2 different original styles of music.
So Metal, and "The Symphonic Trainwreck", AKA crap. The best thing Jason Newstead ever did was quit the band and join Ozzy/Voivid where he can actually play music without the ire of the Metallica elite fanclub who were always calling him "Jason Newkid" or something else in obvious hatred as the replacement for Cliff Burton, who for some, was the glue that held the band together, and created the frenetic rhythm that everyone loved from the early days. Did you like those two records and "St. Anger" or whatever monstrosity was recorded after Hetfield got sober and recorded that shite documentary that showed how much of an arrogant contemptuous prick that he actually was? "Some Kind Of Monster?". Dude, if you need any more proof than that I can't help you.
Whenever I ask an old school metalhead what is your opinion on Metallica. I get that same shit "well, ughhh, uhh there old stuff is cool, but Load and Reload sucks, they sold out"
They are so incredibly right. I think they were the best with Dave Mustaine.

Not really a good example since Mustaine sold out as well, later down the road with Megadeth. Risk? Cryptic Writings? I mean comon mate. Don't get me wrong I love Megadeth, but they are still pop music to me.
I listen to Old Man's Child, Immortal, Marduk, Graveland etc.
Yeah, Mustaine is pop.

Metallica Man X, let me re-welcome you into our community:
As Necromancer pointed out, we do have a lot of threads asking about the "best games" or "recommended games" for newbies :)
Now, I'll be the first to admit that the search function on this boards sucks (not as much as Metallica, but it's pretty bad), so I am sure we would be happy to provide some links to help you out.
First, though, please tell us some basic info:
(1) what hardware/software do you have? (2) do you have a budget? (3) what genres are you particularly interested in? or do you want to sample everything (to get the "full TG-16 experience")?
ASIDE: Metallica sucks. But don't take it personally. We honestly don't care if you like them, we just want you to enjoy TG-16, play the games, ask questions, and share your thoughts. This will ensure that we forget about money-worshipping losers like Metallica and the shitty crap they dump onto their albums.
I'm kidding! It's too easy to tease you about Metallica! I'd actually have a harder time teasing you about liking Mariah Carey, if only because she isn't nearly as big a douchebag as Lars is.

UPDATE: Since I had Some Kind of Monster sitting in a red envelope for several days now I decided, because of this thread, to watch it last night.
Holy SHIT those guys are pathetic. Dude driving around in a rat rod so clean you can eat off it. Flip flops. TERRIBLE lyrics. All sniffling and crying about total bullshit. Those guys are about as metal as the latest DDR game on Wii. f*cking HELL they are lame.
Contrast this with, for example, Iron Maiden: Flight 666 (which I cannot recommend highly enough to everyone, metal heads or not) and you will see the difference. IM are probably just as rich as Metallica, and they can be sorta whores sometimes as well, but they are as real as it can possibly f*cking get.
As as for the idea that anyone in Metallica has some kind of "top ten" skills (other then vocals that do that "WHHEEEAAAAAYUHH" thing at the end of every f*cking bar), you need to get out more. Obviously they are highly skilled and competent professional musicians, but...seriously. You evidently have no idea where metal can take you, and I feel sorry for you for that. If you think that muddy uninspired dirgey bullshit rocks in anyway...I hope you get better. I'm serious.

Metallica got famous/rich/turned into pussies.
Kirk screws his own solos up now, his playing is sloppy, lars' drum kit sounds like folgers coffee cans.
They're trying to be sweet again. They won't ever make it back to the Creeping Death style riffs. They're too stupid.

I understand the sentiment, but there is plenty of good metal being made and appreciated "now" by the same sort of pimply fat D&D nerds that made/loved it in the 80s. All Metallica did was steal its limelight.
Stratovarious, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian, Iron Maiden, and, yeah, Dragonforce. These dudes are still with and a rocking our asses off. It isn't a "then versus now" thing.

So. Metallica Man X. How is Megadeth pop music? Mustaine shreds.
