I think this is my favorite game so far that I've played on PC-Engine. Those last couple levels were pretty darn difficult, though. :)
-
Congrats! It's one of my favorites for the system. Those last 2 levels can be pretty tricky. I really wish there was a sequel.

There kind of was. Kengo was arcade only, and plays totally differently, but you can tell Irem was trying to make a new game with the same feel.
-
Yeah Ninja Spirit was the first game that really drew me into the TG16.
-
Definitely one of my favorites on the system and it's a fun little romp I play through a couple times a year.
I still haven't cleared Arcade mode, though.

I looked up Kengo on YT and while it certainly looks like an Irem game, it doesn't seem to have much in common with Ninja Spirit. Either way, I may have to find the rom online and play it some. :) I'd never heard of it before!

NICE!
I remember being a kid and seeing THIS in a mag

I was f*cking sold!
Congrats!

one of the first pc engine games where I saw it getting scores of perfect 10 in american mags :P
-
great arcade conversion for its time. blasted away a lot of other games! IREM @ ITS BEST!!
-
A timeless classic and a great conversion.
Certainly one of my favs for the TG/PCE.
-
It took me a while to get the patterns down, espcially the ninja pit before the last boss. What I love about it and other Irem games is learning the weapons and how to use them and finding the exact way to play each level and fight every enemy. I think it plays a lot like Metal Storm even though they are very different games.
-
As a kid I could not get past the ninja pit. I tried and tried and tried for days. I finally was allowed to call the Turbo tip hotline and the operator just told me I had to get to the bottom without getting hit by a ninja. Thanks :(

I once called the Turbo Tip Hotline bitd (I don't remember why) and when my parents got the phone bill they asked me about the 900 number. They thought I might have been calling an adult chat line and when I told them it was video game related, I could see the relief in their faces. :D

One of my first TG titles. Great game.

haha... I remember calling the Turbo Tip hotline... they gave me some cheat codes on Keith Courage and Blazing Lazers. Had to ask my parents before I called though, so they knew what the 900 number charges were when they came

Bamboo bombs just feel so good to use. The sickle-n-chain is also a treat to use. Add the "dopplegangers" (that's the Gradius terminology, I forget what IREM/TG-16 called the them) and you have a literal WALL OF DESTRUCTION at your fingertips.
I encourage you to play the Arcade Mode. It really makes you appreciate the game even more (some of the confrontations become far more satisfying to overcome!)...

Hell yes (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png).
-
Definitely one of the best Hucard games and best Ninja games on any system period.
-
Agreed; solid, must have Hu for everyone!

Um...Spirits? That what I have been thinking the "shadows" were for the past 20 years.
-
Yes, they're invincible spirit warriors, which is why I think it's called "Ninja Spirit". :)
-
One of my favorite too though I never was able to beat it in arcade mode ](*,)
-
I've cleared arcade mode once. It's worth the effort to do, as the ending is quite different.

I didn't know this. I've never put any serious effort into Arcade Mode, but now I'm tempted to. Thanks!
-
Didnt know it had a different ending, might have to give that a shot

I may have to give this a shot, although I barely made it through PC-Engine mode. :)
Right now, I'm struggling with Ninja Gaiden. Great game, but man is it hard.

I've hardly played the PCE version yet, but of course the NES version was infamous for it's difficulty.
Haven't cleared Ninja Spirit on arcade mode, though.

These two games are not related and nothing alike except they both have "Ninja" in their names.

Speaking of ninja spirit, here is a pix of my daughter playing it on my newly LCD modded TE:)
