just finish a raw cast of my turbografx 16 case, the one the right is the copy
-
Looks good! Could be the screen on my cell phone, but the copy appears to be bigger than the original
-
Sweet! What's the process? Any more pics of the steps leading up to the final product? How's the durability? Are you gonna mass produce 'em? I must know more! MOAR!
-
Nice!
Make more & sell them to us! If you do, make some white ones too for the PCE.
-
Very nice.
-
I know Seymour Onion was looking to possibly mass produce these as well.
-
These look very nice. I have quite a few TTI games that need cases. Ever think about adding a plastic clip inside the case to hold the hucards in place like the ones used in the US?

Please answer all of these questions, in the order Necro asked them.
Thank you, snickersbar. (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png)

I used silicone mold to make a copy, I thought about mass produce them but only got one mold, It won't have the clip to hold the hucard it just more work, the durability is good I just need to refine it a bit more, yes I can make white ones as well

I really don't see the big deal with the little clip. PC Engine games don't use them all they use are little cuts of foam to hold the games in place.

I think at least 50% of the clips in my cases are broken.
-
Nice work. Keep us posted.
-
Yeah! Now this is a project I can get behind for sure! This is awesome and will be ever more awesome should it come full circle and get us new cases. You the man!

Same here. My copy of Keith Courage came without the clip, it had double sided sticky pad instead. Poster tack could be used on clip-less case to hold in game without being too sticky or leaving mess like regular double sided tape.

Step one - someone makes a ton of these.
Step two - I buy a ton of these.
Step three - I need more Sparky stickers.
-
Wow, looks good and screw the clip. Now get making more you got us all excited :)
-
made a white one using one side of the mold, now i just need some big rubber bands to hold the mold together and some big disposable syringes, hopefully start making some

Why are you not using clamps instead of rubber bands to hold the mold together?

clamps can distort the silicone mold

I missed the post about the silicone mold, sorry. Keep up the good work :)
-
Yay, white! Top work!!! :D
-
ABout how many are you looking to make at once? Cause chances are your gonna atleast sell 1000 asap. What about price, You gonna give discounts if you sell in bulk?
-
I'd like to know if anyone can do this. Where the heck do you get silicon and how do you make the mold? Do you have plastic resin beads kicking around in your basement to get any colour you want?
Oh, and bigger pics please!!!
-
Yes anyone can make a silicone mold, I brought all the stuff online and watch on YouTube how to make a silicone mold. Yes you can make any colour just add pigment to the resin.
Making 1000 copies won't happin over nite, it take 15mins for resin hardin and I got one mold
-
Lol just saying what you'll sell when your ready. People on these forums myself included been searching for cases. So be ready to sell atleast 1000 lol.
-
The cost (not simply in terms of materials used, but time and labor, and rejects) for making piecemeal HuCard cases might be higher than simply buying big lots of crappy games and harvesting the cases.
-
Speaking of cost, what do you figure the cost of making one case was?
-
I havn"t thought about cost yet, I was thinking about postage because i live in Australia
-
because i live in Australia
Sweet, wasn't expecting that. I wouldn't mind a white PCE HuCard insert if you ever have a spare one to sell. I'm in Australia also.

I agree. Unless there is a more efficient process that this guy can come up with, I am thinking that these cases will likely just be a really cool self project, and not really something that is able to be mass produced.
However, it would be pretty fun to see some colored cases. Arkhan needs to watch the YouTube video to see how to make Atlantean blue.
