Just curious, is the Dungeon Explorer II $300.00 like you have it listed on eBay for?

Oh right, so you didn't accept my very decent offer on Ebay of $650 for the lot (I even offered to go up by $50) over your $1,000 asking price and I was even willing to go higher until I remembered I had a f*cking brain.

Now you come to OUR community to try and sell your collection of "sentimental value" for WAY more than its worth staring with the asking price on your DUO that it's really worth way under $200.  Well, let me be the FIRST to say you are BAD NEWS and you should do yourself a favor and go away, now, before you get embarrassed.

Sentimental value?

The sentiment of when he picked up dungeon explorer 2 for $1 at the flea market?

(13:45 in this video)

Eh, I have no problems with reselling stuff you find at the flea market for way above value. If you lie, however, that is shady.  Not sure, because I don't know what was said in these conversations.

I put that part in quotes to denote a sentiment that is typical of those who come here hawking their warez, that's right, you don't know.

Correct, no one is claiming that you lied, but clearly I made a decent offer and even offered to go higher, you were too pompous and greedy in the end and opted to ignore me rather than continue negotiating.  Like Dark, I too don't have a problem with you making a profit, by all means, but it's not like you were getting ripped off by me either. Bitching? LOL f*ck me to tears, all I did was state my experience with you, no f*cks are given at this point.  Flame? Psycho, absolutely did not.  Keep up that attitude; I did you a service by telling you to stop before some of the veterans here really tear you a new one.  Who am I?  I've been here since '05 getting to know these guys and earning their respect over the years.  To me that matters!  I've been humbled here, learned from my mistakes and made friends like no other.  I am someone who cares a lot about my people here and don't want to see them get ripped off (even though I'm willing to rip myself off at times).  My sales here prove many have walked away with awesome deals.  Yes, PCEFX regulars, they can be a$$holes but I love every last one of them.  You will not fool any of us...You want Ebay prices?  Go back there.  Clearly there were many lined up for your expert pricing abilities...

I'm not sure that I'll get that here. THAT'S WHY THE PRICES ARE NEGOTIABLE!!!! WTF PEOPLE... It's really not that hard to understand. You can make me a FAIR offer. If you seriously don't like the prices, then don't gtfo. Simple as that.

Retro, those are decent prices on everything besides DE II and the original asking price on the DUO (which you already stated are both negotiable and hope you mean it this time).  Since I am man enough, I offer an apology for coming off the way I did.  I felt burned by your tone on Ebay for offers I was willing to do in good faith (and was being nice about), as well as your attitude here after I talked about said experience.  I learned the hard way that this forum is special, and there is a lot of etiquette involved.  This is why I was passionate about not seeing my friends here get ripped off.  I would not take credit for if anything I have said has impacted your pricing tonight, or if anyone you know on these forums from the original thread has graciously assisted in the decision-making, because anyone here who cares would have done the same.

Regardless, I am the humblest person you'd ever meet and it's unfortunate we couldn't make a deal on Ebay.  So here I am graceful, and with an apology.  I will say nothing more on this thread.

Edit:  And here I was trying to show some class.  After your last comment?...  *smh*

Hey, at least his prices are better than segasaturn51195.  Attitude isn't much better, though.  And I have to be honest, I just can't bring myself to give money to people who come here and get all combative with the regulars.  Retro, you have a couple of games that I want, and the prices are good, but you mouthing off to Mother lost you my sale.  Yes, he started it, but he's a forum elder and you're a noob who is only here to sell stuff.  Sometimes you have to bite your tongue.

I just felt like adding to this trainwreck, which started...
HERE:
Quote
Dungeon Explorer II - $300 (Mainly looking for trades)
(after being found for a $1? Yeah... that's gone over here well, eh?)
and HERE:
Quote
Stop bitching... Jesus if you want the f*cking lot, then pay up. It's that simple. Who are you to quote prices on anything? I can value my stuff accordingly whether it be high or low.

Coming in with a few gouging prices in a fairly close community and then insulting one of the regulars after they call out the attitude leads directly to a sale thread trainwreck. Nice to see you did your research before starting off here with a sales thread.

Was Mothergunner in the wrong? Who cares. He's not the one coming in here without any references/knowing anyone and starting right away with a sales thread that is clearly re-selling for max profit. That's the way it works here.

I'm sorry you find it racist. You're the first person to say so after I used it over many sites for the past 10+ years. When I first start using the internet my AOL name was SamuraiCookieZ (which was a dumb cartoon character I used to draw). After my parents got rid of AOL they eventually delete your AOL account linked e-mail/sn. So when I went for a new name for instant messenger I just went for basically the opposite of my original sn (NinjaCrackerX) and I've used it for everything ever since. Sorry for the long story I just wanted to give you and anyone else in the shadows who thinks it's racist the story.

next time just hit preview message first to make sure your typing outside the qoute box, sometimes the forum loads kinda funny in the quick reply box, or you can't see everything, if it's a longer quote.

I find it hilarious that people are STILL trying to pull this crap. You would think the news would've spread by now that we don't take kindly to it. If people like this really had "sentimental value" for the PCE, you'd think they would post in other forums besides their For Sale thread that they made immediately upon joining.

I'm starting to agree with the Professor. We probably should have a post count rule before being able to start a For Sale thread.

Thanks Guys, I had been dealing with him on Ebay and I was very polite to him the whole way through.  His tone and responses led me to believe he's extremely greedy.  So I stopped making offers when he ignored my last $50 increase (what was I thinking right?).  So when he showed up here, I knew he aimed to "try" to take people for a ride and I wasn't having that; I detest people who try to take from my friends so I got pissed and spoke up even though he would have been flamed without me saying anything.  His prices on the non-rare stuff ended up being okay after the fallout began and so I even typed up an apology as he got cute.  That's just me, humble and willing to apologize when it's called for.  Funny thing is, he could have had money in his pocket within ONE transaction with me but Noooo, he would rather buy multiple packaging, spend multiple gas trips to the P.O., time, effort, etc.  Basically, not making a whole lot on the lot he could have sold me.  I already have DE II so my plan had been to bring that here with a better price than Ebay ($50 community price raffle) along with a couple more titles, keeping the hardware and offsetting my costs a little.  But things happen for a reason as this DE II is SCRATCHED albiet lightly per his Ebay auction, which btw he hasn't taken down so what happens if two people pay him at the same time?

You know, in ancient times, here in the USA, if someone were so selfish and greedy that it hurt the populace, the people would tar and feather them...

Or better yet, we'd have a revolution and declare ourselves a new nude nation!  :P

I fixed that for you, at vestcoat's request. :)

I'll take all of it.  How much to ship to Canada?

The Duo, Rondo of Blood & TV Sports Hockey have just been sold. Message me a fair price for the rest of the games and I'll figure out the rest for shipping to Canada. Thanks
Ah, I forgot the [/sarcasm] thingy in my post.  Sorry, but anyone that comes here arguing with or insulting regulars deserves what they get.  I'll never buy off anyone with a shitty attitude.

Man, two great minds think alike. :) I was going to raffle my loose U.S copy and my jap version if he accepted my offer. But I guess in his eyes I was low balling too much.

Bigus, that is exactly the term he used on me on Ebay; "Lowball."

Agreed!

How much did you offer him exactly for DE II? Or was he trying to sell everything in one lot?

That's correct Mike, one lot.  He wanted 1,000 for it but had best offer on it.

Started at $500 and began a long increase to $650.  At which point he passed.  When I offered $700 (with the intent of negotiating further), he ignored me.  I was extremely polite even though he was pompous, because he had stuff I wanted.  In the end, I'm glad he did! ;-)

I first offered him a PCE trade. Didn't want that. Then I offered $150 for both Lords of Thunder and Dungeon Explorer 2. I guess that may be low balling in his eyes... But I did get Dungeon Explorer 2 minus the manual for around $90 from Stone Age Gamer.... So is the manual really worth $30+ or more?

Well, to be honest, DE II has been getting around 220-250 for a complete US copy depending on condition, so anything below $190 for a "very good" condition copy would kind of be considered fairly low ball. US Lords gets between 50-70 bucks on average depending on condition also. I'm not going to get into the politics of "is it actually worth it", but just saying, thats what they tend to fetch, outside of this forum anyway. Cant say what they get around here since no one seems to care to part with their copies en masse. I don't know what all he had in the original lot, so I cant say if what he had listed was worth what you offered Gunner.

No.  Because he actually wants $300 for the DE II he man-handled on that video of his, and it has scratches.  Sure he gave the token "Best Offer, why can't you people f*cking understand??" etc., but only for what HE sees as "Fair" which is consistent with gouging prices.

That's a fair point Mike and I agree, which is why I was still negotiating.  At some point, you must consider that you are paying for a scratched DE II and the rest of his stuff was not worth that much.  I think my offer of $650 (and willing to go higher) was fair when you consider all those factors.  I also mentioned he wasn't going to get an offer closer to $1,000 because it's the holidays, and he should consider how bad he needed the cash NOW.  He was helping me get a system and I was putting cash in his pocket in the NOW (one transaction, one trip to the P.O.).

This was the original lot.  I get your point and yes I was willing to go higher until he ignored me.

Hence the reason why I offered him $150 for both. In the end it doesn't really matter as I already own the pce version of both games and have a great condition loose of the U.S version of DE2.

Yea, totally, the DE II keeps coming up and that is not what attracted me to his sale, all his rare games on that lot I have, I wanted the hardware and some of the other games he had in there that were more common.  I did want to bring the rest here for some very decent prices to offset my cost just a little...  I mean they would HAVE to be decent as we know what happens to gougers on our forums here...lol.   You know just enough to make the purchase not hurt so much, me scoring some stuff, but more imporantly to ensure the rarer stuff stays in the community.

If I hacked it up individually for sale this is basically what I would be seeing price wise, what I'd consider a fair price to pay for said stuff:

- IT HAS BEEN RECAPPED & HAS HAD A LENS SWAP SO IT'LL WORK PERFECTLY FINE
- COMES WITH ORIGINAL A/C & AV CABLES
- 2 TURBO DUO CONTROLLERS

SUPER CD GAMES

- DUNGEON EXPLORER II (if in good condition, lets say $190)
- CASTLEVANIA: RONDO OF BLOOD (if in good condition, lets say $80)
- LORDS OF THUNDER (if in good condition, lets say $50)
- GATES OF THUNDER, BONK'S ADVENTURE & REVENGE 3 IN 1 (MISSING GATES OF THUNDER MANUAL) (if in good condition, lets say $40)
- DUNGEON MASTER: THERON'S QUEST (if in good condition, lets say $20)

TURBO CD GAMES:

- COSMIC FANTASY 2 (if in good condition, lets say $20)
- YS BOOK I & II (if in good condition, lets say $35)
- FIGHTING STREET (if in good condition, lets say $15)

TURBOGRAFX 16 GAMES (COMPLETE):

- SPLATTERHOUSE (if in good condition, lets say $30)
- R-TYPE  (if in good condition, lets say $30)

- JACK NICKLAUS ($5 meh)
- WORLD CLASS BASEBALL($ 5 meh)
- VICTORY RUN($5 meh)
- VEIGUES TACTICAL GLADIATOR (if in good condition, lets say $15)
- TV SPORTS FOOTBALL ($5 meh)
- TAKIN IT TO THE HOOP($5 meh)

TG16 GAMES HUCARD ONLY:
- GALAGA 88 (IMPORT) $5
- KICKBOXING $5
- DRAGON'S CURSE $20

- DROP OFF $5

- IMPOSSAMOLE $8
- TV SPORTS BASKETBALL $0
- MILITARY MADNESS $10
- MOTOROADER $10
- SPACE HARRIER $8
- SUPER VOLLEYBALL$6
- YO BRO$0
- TV SPORTS HOCKEY$5

TG16 GAMES WITH CARDBOARD BOX:
- TV SPORTS HOCKEY$10
- BONK'S ADVENTURE $25

Given that it was a lot auction though, and as you said, instant cash in a lump sum, a starting offer of $700 would have been ideal, and a final offer of $750 would have been fair. If he would have chopped it all up individually on ebay, he could have scored a tad over 800 bucks or more easy. On the lot auction, he would have already been taking a small loss on market value, as whoever bought it would be doing it for resell reasons with no intention of paying for the total worth, plus the final value fee he would have to pay on that and the paypal fee would have ate a chunk. So while what you deem as a decent offer for him at $650, which I have to admit is lowball, for him it would be worse because ebay and paypal would take their nice large chunk of the sell also making it totally unrealistic to want to accept that offer. Regardless, as stated prior, and why I dont like people jumping on this forum and just doing sales, they find stuff dirt cheap, go to ebay hoping to make a ton, they fail, they come here, make up stories and spin about their prized collection they are so attached to (that they got like last month), etc, then list the stuff here for ebay, or even above ebay prices.

I don't expect them to not make any profit on their lucky finds and great deals, but I at least expect them to act intelligent in regards to prices, treat people with courtesy, stop making up background stories about shit, and not feel entitled, because no one has the right to buy or sell here, its a privilege. And in regards to this community, I personally think that privilege should be earned, not just handed out on a whim to anyone right from the get go. If people were actually forced to slow down and participate in the forums, over time the odds are they would learn what the actual going rates of said items are, instead of the quick guesses they made after viewing a couple current BIN auction listings.

Mike I see your point.  My mistake was starting too low and I admit that.  I guess in the end one can't A. Fault a guy for wanting to profit as equally as B. Fault a guy for wanting to get the best deal possible.  In no way did I expect him to take my initial offers but negotiation is a chance game. When I mentioned I was willing to go up higher, behind some points I brought up with him, he still had totally dismissed me.  Ultimately that was my issue and when I saw him coming here, yes, I admit, I took it personally and I didn't want to see anyone else be on the receiving end of his attitude.  =/

Well, I paid $200 for my copy of DEII from a member here, but that copy is one of the nicest looking games on my shelf, condition-wise.
as for Lords, I'd say it's about a $30 game, though patience can get it for less ($17 via ebay for me)

if it really is scratched, I'd say $200 for both would have been fair, maybe a little higher.

as for his overall prices, I'd say they weren't bad, save for the SuperCD games, which seemed a little high, but hey, "prices are negotiable"

not having dealt with him personally I can't speak to that, but given what's been said in this thread, both sides seem to have elevated things beyond where they needed to be.

TL;DR
take a chill pill, brah.
