Title: Ok to leave interface unit on?
Post by: Bernie on March 20, 2013, 11:34:07 AM
Just noticed that my IFU get "slightly warm" when it is left in the locked position, which of course causes the green LED to light up.  Should I not leave it locked, or does it matter?  It by no means get hot, I just can feel a difference.  Not sure if I am supposed to be switching it off when I am not playing or not.

That's...how you switch it off.

Are you just hitting the PCE switch normally then? Use the big one, it kills everything.

Yeah the bigun, the one that kills it all.  I cut the pc engine itself off obviously.  :)  But wasn't sure if I should hit the lock mechanism as well to shut the entire thing off.

You only have to hit the lock mechanism.

i wonder if it would be possible to mod this setup so that the entire cd-rom/IFU/pc engine would power on by just using the PCE power switch.  the current
method of using both switches is not inconvenient by any means, but using one switch for the entire device would be nice.

A little question regarding the IFU... Like I said in other topic, I finally completed my setup with a CD drive. But I tought the drive stays a little "loose" in the interface (unlike the PCE part), is it normal? It works flawlessly, however. Is there something I'm not doing or is there something missing, like an extra part?

...again...you DON'T have to use both switches. You just use the big one. That switch kills everything. Just leave the PCE switched on. There is no power going to it if the big switch is off.

what he said.
the pce get the power via the back bone interface of the IFU. so of the IFU is switched off, any connections on the back bone interface are as well.
