How easy is this mod, and is there a guide out there as to how to do it?

????
You never ran into the "TG/PCE Repair/Mod Discussion" area of this site ? There's been significant activity regarding this mod in the last couple of months and even on a YPbPr Component one thanks to thesteve (once again). Well, I'm surprised you didn't notice any activity on this as of late. Anyhow, here ya go:

You can keep an eye on my thread for the more difficult Component mod as well:

As to how easy, well, depends on your skill. The S-Video circuit design itself is very simple. Very few parts are needed as you'll see in the first link.

thanks nightwolf. I knew there was the comonent thread, but i didn't want to derail it with my talk on S-video and noobie stuff. I apologize. Ill favorite those links and this thread can be closed

munchiaz follow the links NightWolve post up above .. It's a fairly easy mod and it will make a world of a difference when you play your Duo-R through s-video .. It's a straight forward mod especially the way it's explained with the pictures posted up of the process .. Go for it and good luck with it ..
