Title: Magical Chase FS FAQ
Post by: vestcoat on September 21, 2013, 07:28:12 AM
1) Post each and every Magical Chase sale anywhere in the world on PCEFX.
2) Ridicule gouging starting price/reserve. Post multiple pages of speculation on ending price.
3) Perpetually underestimate desperate collector inflation. Express shock. Declare ending price "OMG INSANE."
4) Voice disappointment and deep, spiritual need to own Magical Chase. Post WTB "LOL" sob story in the hope that lurking sellers will rank cyber friendship and forum contributions higher than an extra $2k.

Screenshots and as much written info as possible please as sale transactions disappear for the 5 MC's that keep changing owners.

I'd gladly sell my shoes for a copy of Magical Chase.

5) After obtaining multiple copies at a fraction of "fair market value", flip them on eBay by hyping the crap out of their collectibilty/R@REness to inflate prices and repeat cycle indefinitely.

Just curious, is there a reason besides current prices to explain how and why exactly you consider the PC engine version to be superior? The level 1 graphics and some of the sprites being changed?

There's nothing superior about it, it's nearly identical to the US version except for the level 1 graphics and sprite changes, but it's the obvious choice for anyone that doesn't want to spend $2000 on a video game.

I agree completely. I was just curious why he used the term superior. I like the English text and sprite/background changes and actually consider the US one superior if we're just talking about the actual game itself and not what it goes for.

I agree the differences are small but I prefer the original graphics in the PC Engine version, so to my tastes it's the superior version.

The number of copies that exist for any game is meaningless and whether it is 30 or 3 million, crooked sellers and collectors will take that figure and attach "only" in front of it. There is no way we'll ever get anywhere near a ballpark figure for games like this, yet those clowns are already doing it.

Yup!

And the reason we see them so frequently is because someone will buy it on ebay, play it, and then say "Oh shit I spent this much on this mass produced game?!!" and then list it on ebay for sale the next week before their wife/husband/dollfie finds out.

You don't get it. The whole point of retro game collecting is to be able to say "at least I owned one once".

https://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=15466.msg315480;boardseen#new

The game no longer holds value for hardcore collectors once they taken enough photos and videos showing off their collectors piece, other than being able to brag about how much of a return they got flipping their investment.

At this point maybe we can hope for Re-pros.  I really don't care about games as far as value but just being able to play them on a real console on a Giant CRT TV which I do almost daily.  I just ordered a GIMIC! repro and about to get Wiley Wars for the Genesis, I say why not?

I'd be interested in a repro as well, but until then, the gameofyou flash card does the job perfectly.

Why do people care so much about this game?  Is it just the elusiveness of it, or do people really think it's that good?

All the hype is just crazed insta collectors. Its a great game, but the people driving the investment prices have never and will never play through the game. Unfortunately, too many people are biased against it as a backlash against the hype and can't appreciate it for what it actually is.

why are you begging for some shitty booties, when you just can pick up the japanese version for 20x cheaper than the US version?

and yeah, if you sooo don't care as long you can play the games, why don't go everything flash cards?

I offered him retail price though, he should be lucky he didn't loose money! Don't most games offer less after the game isn't new anymore?
I wonder what GameStop would actually give him for this if he traded it in?

lol, that brings me on an idea. do gamestops & co reply on acquisition inquiries via mail etc. if you had games to sell?

would be fun to send them few lists with pce/tg etc. rarities you want to sell, and see their answers of how much they would be willing to pay you.
