Title: Dead Moon 2 on XBLA
Post by: YANDMAN on January 19, 2014, 09:19:59 PM
O.K so the only perk of being an insomniac is that i get to spend many hours trawling for Indie games, I discovered this one a couple weeks ago and its pretty cool.

It has a lot of obvious Turbo Grafx influence from the intro onwards and it looks like if Dead Moon did have a sequel on cd due to the screaming guitar soundtrack.

It plays pretty nice and for a dollar you cant really go wrong.

lol I think Dead Moon on the PCE looked *better*.  Way better, in fact.

The soundtrack is like some serious Lords of Thunder shit, though.  Props for that.

No it really doesn't, I play dead moon a lot i like it, But its graphics are pretty average, The video looks a lot clearer than they are, When playing its got that fuzzy'ness that dead moon has and the power ups and weapons and backgrounds are all really similar.

Dead Moon definitely has the better graphics, with much more varied backgrounds and overlapping paralax instead of straight line scrolls.

It looks pretty cool :)

It's like they wrote a love letter to Dead Moon and old school shumps.  My only complaint is that there appears to be a health bar in the lower right corner.  What is this pussy mode?  They should have an OBEY mode with a proper 1 hit dead scheme.

Lol Dead Moon essentially had a life bar by powering up your weapons

Yes but each hit reduced your weapon power.  In this version it looks like you can take damage and not lose weapon power like a true health bar.

You can still lose weapon power ups by getting clipped, I think the life bar just comes into play on a boss battle, Ive never really paid it too much attention.

I queued up the download of the trial for my xbox (for later), so I haven't tried the game.  Just wanted to poke my head in to say that the page on xbox.com is saying the full game is $2.99.  Is that not correct?
