Been watching some videos on this one, and it looks like alot of fun. Was wondering what you guys thought about the game

Great graphics but that's about it. It's quite "meh" to actually play.
-
It's ok, not as good as I was hoping. The soundtrack is decent, particularly the first stage. Nice that it's two player simultaneous too.
-
as I said before, it has nice visuals but lacks any dynamics and speed. in other words the gameplay quite sucks, which is a pity when looking at the nice grafx they put out.
alos BGs are quite repeating at times.

The problem is the gameplay design. It's easy and simplistic; they didn't bother refining anything. Play it on the harder difficulty to get a little bit more enjoyment out of the game, but it still doesn't fix the underlying issue. It's not a crap game, but it's not a great game either. I always felt that there was not enough enemies in an area.

I've heard it was kind of boring before so it's put me off on buying one considering the $45+ price tag on this one usually.
Great artwork in the game and manual though is very appealing to me so I've just been waiting on a deal for a while.

Mostly agree with the previous comments.
Visuals are nice (including the cinemas) - but the gameplay is simplistic and it seems to be one of those games that forces you to move onwards, otherwise you get an endless stream of enemies that are triggered if you stay in the one location.

My friend and I cleared this game one evening, and we enjoyed it, so I do recommend it to all, but they are correct who say that the game could definitely have used a bit more polish.

HOMEWORK: Compare Mystic Formula to Final Zone II. Is FZII a better game? I think it might be, which is saying something (since I find FZII pretty mediocre).
Both games offer a chance to play different characters (with different weapons), but, as others have stated, it doesn't appear that the (lackluster) stage designs/enemy AI were implemented with much consideration for the different characters.
Mystic Formula really should have been a captivating game...

It seems like the PCE got a lot of Wolf of the Battlefield style "overhead shooters". As is typical with PCE, they aren't all cookie cutter entries, but off the top of my head there's:
Mystic Formula
Bloody Wolf
Red Alert
Final Zone II
Magicoal
Fray CD
Die Hard
What else? Can't think of the name of that multi directional maze shooter, but I know I tend to mix up the name with another PCE game. Override?
