I use a PCMCIA case.  Not sure if the TE will still fit with one of those 3D printed shells on it, though.

I made a custom Turbo Everdrive - pretty sure I posted somewhere here but can't find at the moment. Everdrive with shell won't fit in the PCMCIA case.

Interesting mod to my 8dp template DuoR :), though it was meant for a black case and imo would look a bit nicer on one.
The pce stuff looks cool on the white case and I do like how the 3ds case is pretty similar to a jewel case size.

Not a huge deal or nothin, but In your other thread I think maybe you should give me more credit for the TG template or phrase it a little differently, like on page 3 where you say you finished a TG16 template. There are a few issues in the quality department I noticed with the covers(bonk neutopia and everdrive) you have shown  so far, but since it looks like your mainly using them for personal use I won't get into it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will have to get one of these everdrives at some point for some of the rare games.
In the everdrive forum recently I noticed a few people were having theres fail and go whitescreen
sounded like a few were defective or something?

Hey man - sorry this wasn't called out better and your right. I originally started out making PCE templates and then started modifying for TG16. I am not reproducing it or making any $$$ of that just sharing.

I tried out the multi-poly cases and found that they didn't really fit in size wise with the turbo jewel cases so used the 3DS cases instead.

ill update the referenced post so it is better called out. - Done and the 1st post from that thread.

I referenced credit on the Coverproject.net page but thanks for pointing out that I didn't do that clearly on here.

The Turbo Everdrive I ordered for my Duo-R arrived today! I snapped the Shapeway's case on it, put a Micro (full of Bernie greatness) in, popped it in my TG-16 and played some Alien Crush!

I then set the switch to pce, put it back on the shelf while I wait for my Duo-R to return 8)

That's one for the Express & one for the Duo-R :P

After waiting forever to get one... I finally ordered a Turbo Everdrive from Retrogate in Germany. Finally get to play some out of reach games on real hardware and a CRT in S-video.

Next will either be one for the SNES or Genesis.

I ordered this Sunday night, so it should ship out tomorrow $5 air mail. Anybody know how long it takes for it to get to your doorstep in the US?

unlike the Turbo Everdrive, which seems to like 99% of images that i threw at it, if you do order
ones for snes/md get ready for some serious f*cking about finding images that work.
best get hold of a 100% collection/s and start the slowww process of loading all kinds of
cracked/emulator shit to find images that work.
Got to the point where i dug out the old multi-game hunter and super wild-card copier units,
all the games work and they take about the same amount of time to load from 3.5 disks.

Suggestions you Amy have already done.

1) post your temples on the coverprotect.com. It can really help over people out with their custom cases and allow a host of others to add and be inspired to make a more complete cover library for the TG-16 and PC Engine

2). Nintendo sells directly empty cases for their 3DS max is either 50 or 100 and at a price that cost for one current gen game.  Might sound like a lot but long term it is easier then buying a cheap game that you have no intension of playing keeping or using.  Because then you just ended up adding to DS games not being compete in the wild.

I am a little foggy on the details for the 3DS cases as it was a few years ago when I bought the ,
Max bulk lot for the DS cases when they still had the cases with the GBA storage built in.  I had always intended to buy more for my GBA collection (using the cover project for GBA games) to better store and display my BGA games but never did....then when I looked again it was discontinued due to the 3DS being out.   Cool thin gas they had a variant red case you could buy that really helps distinguish your GBA from DS and 3DS games.

I love my TurboEverdrive. I wish the software was as feature packed as like the Nes Everdrive. However since the TG isn't nearly as popular I'll accept it. I also wish there was memory on the card to properly emulate a 3.0 system card or arcade card.

If you order from StoneAgeGamer you can get a little holder similar to the TurboChip cards. It's a smidge overpriced but nice.

Well it shipped on June 11th. All I have right now is the tracking number for the Ukraine where it is originally shipped. Doesn't seem to give much information due to the language barrier and translating the words tell me nothing.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get from there to the new tracking number for Euro/US (Just US from the looks of it)?

In the original Turbo Everdrive thread (not these two recent ones), I posted my experience ordering one. I think it took a month to arrive.

Well it came in June 27th. I didn't check my mailbox till yesterday afternoon, lol. Not bad for being ordered on June 11th and shipped out on the 13th.

I couldn't be more happy with this thing. This is the first flash cart I have ever bought. So, my hype level is pretty up there right now.  :D

It did take me a little time to get it working. I forgot to unzip the files at first, then unzipped them and the games still wouldn't run. So I reformatted the card in FAT32, put the PCE files in there then switched it to TG-16 mode and it works great. I guess it either wasn't formatted right to begin with and/or it didn't like PC-Engine mode on my region modded US Duo.

Hi all - I've not posted on here for 2 years (sad to say I haven't been doing much in PC Engine land  [-X  )

Anyway I've been thinking about getting a Turbo Everdrive, so when they finally came back in stock last week I ordered one.

I was a bit worried whether it would work ok on my PCE Duo as I had done an RGB mod powered off the 5 volt on the HuCard slot, and I'd heard people were having issues with regions mods....

No worries though, I seems to be working great. I even dug out my old CRT for the complete experience. I've not had some much gaming fun in ages!

I think I'll try and pick up that 3D printed PCB cover soon.

Cheers,

Ravi

It works in my Duo-R that turbokon region modded if that's any help. It messes up on switchless region modded systems (GT/TE) I've heard.
Title: Re: Turbo Everdrive
Post by: Keith Courage on July 14, 2014, 10:33:21 PM
I would also be glad to jump in on that group buy for one.

Whether it will work or not depends on the system and the type of region mod performed. I can say for a fact that both DUO-R and US Turbo grafx systems have no issues using a Turbo Everdrive with both the Circuit and 8PDT based region mods.

However, I have noticed issues here and there with the standard white PC engine and Standard DUO systems no matter which type region mod is performed. Meaning sometimes games will load up with garbled graphics but after reloading said game maybe 4-5 times it usually works just fine.

Maybe someone else can chime in with more info for region mods with those two systems.

I do not own an everdrive but have had people send me one every now and again for testing purposes.

The micro SD card you'll buy yourself; any of the sellers/resellers charge an extra shitty markup for them and they're dirt cheap nowadays. All you need is a minimum 2 GB micro SD ($3-$4) and that'll cover the 300 MB+ of the entire HuCard ROM library. Bernie has the whole thing well organized and ready to share via PM when ready.

The thing is, a Group Buy needs a leader, it's been organized here before for the SNES flash cart:

https://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=16576.0

The OP later realized the work/hassle involved and withdrew, only for BlueBMW to take over and save the day.

I described how it works here:

https://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=16576.msg345144#msg345144

It looks like we can probably round up at least 10 people who haven't bought it yet. But... who is willing to be the leader on it ? That's the thing. We could ask BlueBMW again, but he's already got the SNES buy that hasn't yet been done to my knowledge.

I read something about not being able to use the loader with a Mac?  Is that still true?  I could always get the .roms and use a buddies computer.

1) Buy minimum 2 GB microSD card with SD adapter to fit in your computer's normal SD slot.
2) Format card to FAT32.
3) PM Bernie for well organized HuCard ROM collection, probably archived in ZIP or whatever.
4) Unzip archive, copy to the root of the microSD card, eject.
5) Insert card in the TurboEverdrive and give it a shot on whatever NEC console!!!

Easy as pie, or should be, even with a Mac! ;)

I wasn't too worried about the SD card I was just asking, so thanks for the information.

So did they even order them yet or are they just waiting on them by now?

Even if there isn't a leader yet, maybe we could start a thread and get a list of people going.

You're thinking of all the other pre-Everdrive models of flash carts that had to be flashed with Windows PC programs. There is no loader software with Everdrive, just copy'n'paste of ROM files on a FAT32-formatted microSD card.
Title: Re: Turbo Everdrive
Post by: imparanoic on July 15, 2014, 10:26:10 PM
it's just drag and drop files on to sd card, so simple and the best way

it's not like older and unreliable rom loader flash carts, no need any iTunes style loader management for this

"Classic Style" http://shpws.me/q6MW
"Super Low Profile Style" http://shpws.me/q6MX

(taken from the maker here (http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?42373-Custom-Turbo-Everdrive-Shell))

Is anyone in the UK interested in these? They want nearly 9 Euros for postage. I was thinking I could order a few, and re-send them in the UK for about £1 each.

€9 for postage is ridiculous, for something that weights sweet FA. :x
