Just stumbled upon this post on NintendoAge, this guy scored this amazing TG-16 collection for $120!
http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?StartRow=1&catid=10&threadid=122074
He bought it just to flip it as he's only interested in Nintendo games.
See I'm a die hard Nintendo fan, I don't have anything else in my collection, no sega or neo geo. So in my mind I would much rather see it go to someone who will really appreciate having it as much as I like having Nintendo. Plus this should allow me to get a really nice piece or two for my collection
-
Damn fine deal, but it's unfortunate that he's going to flip it so soon.
-
I told myself i wasn't jealous at the first picture, then i noticed a second picture, and third, and a fourth. Damn. How sad that it's going to be flipped for what I'm sure will be stupid prices.

"I'm going to pass it on to someone who will enjoy it more", said the collector, while opening ebay and a videogame price chart in separated tabs in his browser.
-
Amazing score! Someone there said all of that's worth a few thousand dollars. Looks like the OP will use the money to get a few rare pieces for his Nintendo collection. Man, this stuff never happens to me :( :(

^ or that. Yes he is probably doing that.
-
And yes this will all be going up for sale
-
Wow! Monumental score. I wish he would at least give it a try I bet he would find that he loves it.

What I'm wondering, is if the person selling this was the original owner. Could it be something he found moving into a house, from a relative who moved away, died, etc?
Seems odd, with the titles there, that a person who was into the TG-16 would dump it all for so cheap. That is, unless this was the last system he ever owned, and didn't keep up with anything like it after that.
I saw similar about... 2006? I went to a large outdoor yard sale / flea market to look around. Someone had a lot of Dreamcast out, 12 games or so, system looked clean, etc. The guy only wanted $20 or $30 for it. I asked him what the story was with it, and he said he had it while he was in college, played it while at college, and after that, hadn't touched it. I wasn't interested, but tempted at the price, and during my talk with the person selling the lot, another person walked by, asked how much, and bought it on the spot.
That's a bit different though, as the Dreamcast was only about 7 years old at that point, whereas that TG-16 lot that buyer picked up is about 20 years old.
Who knows what the story is with the lot that guy got, all I know is $120 is a steal. It reminds me of some auctions I noticed on ebay years ago. A bunch of video game stuff, a lot of it TG-16, went up for sale, when a wife was cleaning out a lot of stuff from her dead husband. She typed that in the description for some of the things she was selling. However, she had more sense to put it on ebay, than goodwill it or similar.

lol, die hard nintendo fans are the worst.

It was already sold on ebay a bit ago. I think it went for 2200 if I recall.

Hahaha! Speaking of that mindset I'm surprised he didn't have everything VGA graded before selling... probably could have gotten more than $2200.

I think I remember seeing this lot up for sale a while back too, and that price sounds about right. Such a shame that such an awesome deal went to someone who was just going to flip it.

The title of this thread should be "Guy scored amazing TG-16 collection for $2200".

Man some of those games are hard to find but it decently looks like it was all from the original owner....having the various equals to games he/she clearly liked and most likely an adult owner when initaly bought as everything seemed to be in such clean minty condition.....
I doubt the person selling was the original owner per say but someone who ended up with it or their kid never picked it up and they wanted to off load it quick fast and in a hurry.
It's the type of score everyone dreams of, and only wishes it had gone to someone who would have given the new experience of a system not typically found in the wild a honest chance instead of testing the games to verify they work......
Hell my foray into all that is TG-16 started with my Craigslist haul ... Now I knew of the system but never thought about collecting paying or yada yada for it until it basically fell in my lap....
Now I greatly enjoy it and get excited to play a new game, learn more about it, and activity search for it...
I cheat and go eBay a little but you never remember the details about the games you bought when it is off the Internet.....
When I find games at flea markets or off people at yards sales and such I can tyipcally remember where, how much, and what kind of condition the game or system was in before I got it, cleaned it, played it, and usually enjoyed the hell out of it.

Jelly. So many good games! I hope they get a lot of love.
-
Someone who loves games gets a great haul? That's an awesome story.
Some a$$hole rips off people on eBay for profit? That's every single day.
I don't need to hear about that.
"My heart was racing! I never see Turbo stuff around here!"
"Yes, this is all going up for sale."
Ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh.
-
Agreed! ^^^^

What bothers me is the original owner through 10min of research???.....should of figured out the value of the items but opted to be lazy and settled on $120? Yeah, he really made a killing!!!
-
Damn. Guy was right in my hood. About an hour away. shawber… That name seems soooo familiar to me.
-
There's a guy selling a bunch of Turbo stuff on my local Craig's List (in Dallas) but he wants ridiculous prices. I tried talking to him before about buying some stuff but he was unwilling to negotiate. Oddly he wasn't willing to use Ebay or ship stuff either, wanted local sales only.
