Ok, I had a perfectly good tg-16. A little scratched maybe, but perfectly good. Today I saw an almost mint in box tg-16 for sale on craigslist. No price listed. Had to have it, called the guy, he wanted $120 - fine. Now I've got 2. Is there something wrong with me?

Hell no.
I was living in California for 9-10 years and did not have 99% of my consoles/games (they were in NJ), so I ended up re-purchasing many, many things.
White PCE
Core Grafx
Core Grafx II
TG-16
TG-16 + TurboBooster
TurboExpress
I have a sickness.
I ended up trading nearly everything when I moved back to NJ and was reunited with my original stuff, but still...
I want more hardware.

Excellent, Excellent, You're leaning to OBEY correctly.
Also I own atm:
Tg-16 W BOX
Tg-16 W CD and Clamshell
US DUO
DOU RX
Turbo Express
If anything you need to catch up:
-
I have a Turbo Duo and a Duo R. I want a core and supergrafx also a turbo express.
-
One is enough for me. Maybe two, one as a backup, but I don't want to hoard stuff. I just want to OBEY, not keep others from OBEY.
-
You're only ok if you bought it to 'upgrade' your first system and sell it now that you don't need it.
Otherwise you're a collectard.
I have a perfect condition TG-16, a modded Duo-R, and thinking of getting a modded white PC Engine. Getting different models is perfectly healthy.
-
I have a white PC Engine and a Duo-R. I'm obviously not pulling my weight around here.
-
Oh and for the love of Johnny Turbo, remove the plastic film from the system!
-
PCE Duo x2
Shuttle
Duo RX
briefcase setup
Express
Nothing wrong here. Now if you had like a pair of SNES's, then you'd need to see a doctor...that's two too many!
-
Whatever is wrong with you, many of us are in the same boat. For me, it's the PAL Turbob that I just had to have yet will never use.
-
The hardware and systems are what I really love about the Turbo/PCE. So many different iterations and unique combinations for basically the same system. It seems difficult to NOT get more than one system.
Also having an extra system for modding or backup is always good. I have my original Turbografx CIB I bought new that's not modded and I have a loose Turbografx that I've repaired/modded.
-
I've got a Turbo Duo which am very satisfied with. But sometimes, yes sometimes, I'm a little jealous on people who own that super sexy white PC Engine. How can it be that something so small bring so much enjoyment? The curiosity is killing me.
-
I currently have:
TG16 CIB
Turbo Duo
TurboExpress
I just got rid of my region modded TG/CD setup and my PCE DUO. I didn't feel the need to hoard anymore.
-
I just wanted to say that I didn't list all my hardware. Just the duplicates I owned at one point.
Anyway, if you constantly rotate consoles in and out of circulation, like I do, you use all the hardware.
I limit myself to 1-2 handhelds and 1-3 consoles at any given point in time. This started out of necessity (I simply don't have room for much hardware, but I quickly realized it was an excellent way to focus on specific platforms (SMS, Genesis, NES, etc.) every few weeks. I like it.

I'm not sure what good having a TG-16 is, let alone two of them. So yes, you are crazy. Maybe if it was $10 or something, but you paid top dollar.* I have a few different NEC consoles that technically all do pretty much the same thing, but they aren't identical and none of them are the dumb boring dusty black TG-16, with its f*cked up pin swapped/jumbo ports, hugely inflated size, or dumb plastic bus cover that results in a machine that is *like* a PC Engine but is nearly four times the size of one for no apparent reason offering no additional functionality whatsoever.
* Now someone is going to post a link to a loose TG-16 with a huge crack in it that sold for $300.
-
Yarr, $120 is kinda nuts, no matter what ebay says they're worth. I feel silly buying that PAL Turbob, but at least it was about half as much, brand new, and is not something you see in everyone's collection.

Since airsoft only got into TG/PCE stuff this year, it seems likely that just not enough research was done ahead of times. Or else he's still in that infatuation phase where anything goes.

The TG-16 is awesome. You suck my left one. POST MOAR OFTEN. Pleeze.
Seriously, though, there are plenty of reasons to have a TG-16. In fact, it is criminal not to have one if you can afford it.

I really like it how people say "deal with it" when they just get done stating some opinion, usually weakly-supported and facile. It signals that their opinion is not up for discussion. How about no? I don't want to deal with your opinion. I'm just gonna ignore it, because it's inconsequential to my life. Hell, it's inconsequential to anyone's. If you don't want a discussion, who the f*ck cares what you think?
(Not directed at nullity, just a side-note about how ridiculous it is how that insipid phrase crept into the vernacular.)
