Title: An updated TED menu
Post by: thisIsLoneWolf on October 16, 2016, 11:33:41 AM
Has anyone looked into updating the TED menu? How much effort is involved?

I think the TED is great and works well as is, but an updated graphical menu with more options might be fun.

As I recall, an updated menu was created for the Neo Flash in the days before TED.

I can't say I see the point.   How flashy do you really need a list of games to be, lol.

I agree.  Reminds me of the neo geo community right now bickering about the whole flash cart development. They are going nuts over the menu for the thing(s)

There really should be a way to sort out games by rarity and cuurent market value.

The only update that I'd really like to see is a reversal of the selection and cancel buttons, as they're currently backwards from most games.

Yes please. This is a problem on all models of everdrive.

A lower contrast color for the font would be nice too, something easier on the eyes when browsing through the games.

I agree that if the effort required is high, these changes are silly, but if it's not too hard I think it'd be worth it to have swapped cancel/select buttons, and maybe a darker blue font.

Pressing "select" to cycle through different text-bg color combinations would be nice (the CD player offers this)...at the very least a high- vs. low-contrast option would be nice (bright day vs. middle of the night).

Personally, I would like to be able to sort/rank titles by how scantily-clad the characters are. Male and female alike. Character sprites or cinema scenes.

"Hmmmmm... I am in the mood for a scantily-clad male..."

Rastan Saga II
Legendary Axe I
Bikkuriman
Strip Fighter II
...

(Later in the evening)

"Now that the kids are asleep, I am in the mood for a scantily clad female..."

Rastan Saga II
Legendary Axe II
...

I think a cheat code system would make a nice addition to the TED.

You mean apply patches on the fly of loading roms into memory?

I mean entering codes for things like infinite lives, extra health, etc. before you start a game. I think some other Ever Drives already have this feature. The TED is somewhat bare bones as far as EDs go.

Same difference, effectively. But yeah it currently doesn't support it. Probably because the PCE never got a Gameshark or Genie. Not that it can be applied to PCE in the same way - it just never happened. Now that I think about it, it is kinda strange he didn't support on the PCE (rom address realtime modification). Oh well, just patch you roms with the cheats.
