There are so many options I'm not sure why you don't just ask for suggestions and count the most requested ones... the poll is overwhelming.
I like having people feel like they're more directly involved by clicking things lol

My choices were based on what I thought might sound better on the PCE than it currently does, or at least pretty interesting on that chip. This is why I chose:
Elemental Master - Stage 3 Streets of Rage 2 - Max Man Sonic CD - Stardust Speedway Past (curious to hear how you'll deal with all the samples) TMNT2: Turtles in Time - Sewer Surfin Hyper Duel - Black Rain
As I understand it you're not really about using "pure" PCE sounds, which might make my choices meaningless, but that's what I did anyway!
If you're interested in some interesting challenges, I have suggestions of my own: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSkI0VkQm1I&t=1643s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7Jr-Ap4c4I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtlH9bprRPU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyK-FrmC1QQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDuBd8tfCu8&t=1660s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAluV5w_-jI&t=211s (though this whole OST is great fodder for remixing - this one too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAluV5w_-jI&t=676s )
have a fun time either way!

Hmm, what do you mean by "pure"? I'm creating these tunes in Deflemask and recording the playback by playing the ROM file in Mednafen. Any of these chiptunes should play on real PCE hardware.

I think he means that you try to make them sound as close to the original as you can on the PCE instead of trying to make them sound as good as they can on the PCE, or maybe even better than the original if possible, but in a style that's recognisably PCE... Am I right? Let me know...

lol, to some people, "as close to the original" == "as good they can sound on the PCE" ;)
It goes without saying that I strive for accuracy to the source material, with all my covers.

I totally get what you mean, because I too strive for accuracy with my own covers, but I'm not as strict with that...
You see, I'm not afraid to change an instrument or two, or all of them, if I just can't get one that sounds close enough to the original, heck, some of my best-sounding covers happened when I ditched authenticity in favour of making something which takes advantage of what the PCE can do instead of trying to make the PCE sound like something else that it isn't... Sometimes I take inspiration from more than one version of the same song, and bring only the best parts of each version over to my PCE version... But eh, that's just how I do things, you do you mate, and you're doing a fine job as is!

ah, what I meant was you were using some FM drums and all that in the other threads! also I tend to think of a cover as an interpretation on the theme - if you're going for accuracy, I guess I consider it a remake!

Yea, I use samples for percussion much of the time. The PCE handles samples just fine, and I've got no problems sampling the percussion straight from the original track. Though, I have nothing against PSG percussion. I just made a PSG drums version of the Gaiares track (after much tribulation over the snare). My Super CV4 cover also uses PSG drums. It's just a PITA sometimes and, besides, that's Michirin's turf anyway. ;) haha
Cover, remake, call it whatever you like. I'm takin' music from other chips and putting it on the PCE's chip. Bada-bing :)

I love all the choices... but I shied away from a lot of the "EDM" choices because it's early morning and I was thinking that the melodies below could really shine on the PCE.... but, I'm going back to listen to the "EDM" on TubeYou because I forgot that despite how cheesy Killer Instinct might be as a game, I like a lot of the tunes. I used to have a CD with the music that I got when SNES game was being promoted.... but I can't find it. DAMMIT.
5 votes...
Herzog Zwei - There is no Time to Lose Phantasy Star IV - Intro/Title Starfox - Corneria Revenge of Shinobi - The Shinobi (Stage 1) Phantasy Star II (Intro/Title)***
BOUNTY = $$$
***NEEDS A DRASTIC NEW ARRANGEMENT: Phantasy Star II (Intro/Title) (this song is flawed, IMHO, because the best bits are the INTRO (first 50 seconds, pretty generic, but nice, atmospheric build-up) and OUTRO (last 28 seconds are really starting to blossom... 2:10 - end). Everything in-between seems disjointed and filler for the GLORIOUS FINAL 28 seconds...
So, I WILL PAY YOU MONEY to re-arrange this tune: take the final 28 seconds and make it the heart of the new arrangement, recycling the "moody atmosphere" of the intro, too. A nod/reference to the "old, weak original song" would be nice, but don't let it dominate. I WILL PAY YOU MONEY. :)
SRSLY
:)

I will pay nothing, unless you are already accepting general paypal donations, for you to please do a faithful cover of the PSII title track and then do an original arrangement as well.
If it helps, Motoroader II bgms have some perfect PSII sounds, including that kind of bell ring/chime as a note kicks in.

Damn, you two guys REALLY want that Phantasy Star II track, huh? And, yea, the intro and last 30 seconds or so of that track are pure gold.

I got a Genesis at launch and was disappointed at first by how few next gen console style games there were. Everything was trying to be arcade-lite. Phantasy Star II was disappointing as a sequel, but the first killer app for the system. I used to leave the title screen on and do art on my coffee table while it played.

Heh, I would do something similar but with tracks from Lunar: The Silver Star. Would do that regularly do that up on through PS1 games until Napster made it much easier to locate video game soundtracks.

In a word... I would have to say.... When push-it comes to shove-it... When the dust of our lives scatter to the winds of eternity...
Ultimately,
The most honest answer,
Would be...
"Yes, comrade."

I opted to vote for stuff that could be improved by adding some Hu power, given the original arrangement being strong, but the hardware implementation lacking teeth. This would cover pretty much any memorable SNES song that is not orchestral.
Starfox (great, but brought down by too much SNES)
Gaiares Mission 3 (I like the original, but feel it will be better in the PCE)
Mega Man X (not one of my favorite songs, but it is from one of my favorite games of all time. Would be interesting to hear it in the PCE)
Axelay (same as Starfox)
Super Monaco GP (awesome song, marred by poor instrument choice)

I also went with a few I thought could be redone with Frags style and the PCE in mind:
Super Monaco GP - Just imagine what this could be! Herzog Zwei - this is a cool song Dreamer - Mich convinced me somewhere along the way this would be better on PCE Ele. master S3 Phantasy Star IV . . . Although I sorta wish I went with 2 now

That should settle things.
ALSO: I am convinced you drew a digital bikini top for that title screen.

Burn-ception lol
Maybe I will splice in still images of AB2 one frame at a time here and there like a subliminal message. Like Tyler Durden splicing stills of his dick into film reels in Fight Club bahaha
