Blazing Lazers / Gunhed

Going to start the Game of the Month again. A tad late but starting this month is Blazing Lazers/Gunhed. I have always loved this game and is one of the first that I played for the Turbo. It's a fantastic shooter that still holds up. Lets get this going and post some high scores!

I also enjoy some BL. I've heard it gets a bad rap for being too long or dull but back in the 90's we WANTED long games since we just dropped $50 of our paper route or allowance moneys on it. Opening song is epic...I remember using the sound test cheat just to listen to it uninterrupted.

I played some today.  Tis a great shewty with so much stuff going on on-screen, sweet tunes, and good ramp up in difficulty.  I also like the variety of weapons, though the power ups come so often it's too easy to pick up the wrong ones.

The game that got me into the Turbo...we had a toy store chain back home called Child World, and I was in there and heard sound coming from a Kiosk, it was the Turbo playing Blazing Lasers, and it SPOKE when the ship grabbed a power-up...mind you back in my young mind it sounded CRYSTAL clear. That instant I knew I had to have that machine and that game.

Thank you Child World, you were an awesome store.

I did too, well back on Sunday evening. Had a good run going but had a phone call from an out of town friend that threw off my game(well, the game froze while I was talking). I lost my groove after resetting :( but still had some fun playing..

At least you had fun playing!  I will get back into doing a high score run this weekend. I have work from home tomorrow, but I have so much shit to do I won't be able to fuck off at all.

I like shields and field thunder (not steel, you deaf old fart!). Tear that shit up!

Just got done playing a bit. Didn't make it far at all. I was mostly playing around with the power UPS on the first two levels over and over.

But for level one the 1 icon and the multi-body with as many pink/purple balls as possible. Boss dies in two seconds. Second level seems easyish with this setup. I just need to get my dodging skills, sight of sight peripheral vision working again and hone those frogger skills.

It's been a while since I did some shewties.

   I found it fun to have a little change of pace with it's customizations. Make's it more of a high score or caravan style game for a quick play.
