Title: Need your turbo sound issue fix?
Post by: turbokon on February 17, 2008, 01:24:06 PM
Having sound issues with your turbo express or turbo duo?  I can fix it.  The likely cause of the sound issues are bad caps.  I can replace them for your.

Turbo Express $20
Turbo Duo $25
Turbo Duo sound fix with opt amps upgrade $35

Replacing the existing opt amps with audio grade opt amps improve the sound quality.  Prices includes the cost of shipping your unit back to you.  You pay shipping out.  All you need to send me is the unit.  Interested, send me an email.  Thanks.

Now all you have to do is start competing with D-Lite with mod installations. Can you beat his install price?  :)

Does the original turbo not have that problem? if not, why not? or are they simply so cheap to replace now that fixing one isn't worth it?

The problem isn't the systems themselves, but a certain type of capacitor that was used in the audio hardware on the Duo and TurboExpress. Many electronics from that time period that used the same caps (the most notable of which being Apple Computer) have the same issue . The TG-16 and TG-CD use different caps that don't suffer that kind of failure.

I can also do a region and composite (RCA) mods (duo only).  $40 for the region mod and $25 for the composite mod.

I'd really love a component mod for my Duo.

$40 for the region mod is pretty fair,as is the other prices, but $25 for composite video out is way too high. Gold plated jacks of good quality from Parts Express wont even run you $10.00 after shipping. Labor to do the mod would be fast and easy.

You'd have to build a video encoder to install, for one. Component video sends a specific type of signal that I suspect the TG-16/PCE does not natively produce.

That's right and the components necessary are expensive.

BTW, you two have avatars that are too similar. I thought you were one guy talking to yourself for a minute there.
