Title: Mad Stalker ACD?
Post by: Zerojean on December 07, 2004, 05:48:19 AM
Hallow fans!

Only just realised the PC Engine version of Mad Stalker is for ACD.

I wondered how is it, do you like it............good graphics & sound??

Been a long fan of the X68000 version (get it on my http://baseley09.tripod.com/x68000xtreme/index.html site............if I were to get an FM Towns Marty i'd pick up this title, but if the PCE version is grest enough i might not bother,

Basically i'm looking for more excuses to NOT get a Marty. most of the line up in on PCE & 68K as it is.

So Mad Stalker ACD........good yo??

You know I've seen that game and often wondered myself, but I can't find too much info on it....user reviews etc.

I own this game, but haven't played it for years. The only things I can remember is that I was disappointed by this game. The animation and the controls aren't what I expected to be.

ahhh baseley...the disguise is never fooling. I just won the ACD version on ebay. Played the X68K rom. It is fantasmagreat. Awesome side-scrolling action. Not sure about this guy from Germany saying the controls were not good. I found the controls to be excellent very fluid and responsive.

Anyway, I'll be sure to post some screen shots when I get the ACD and note if there are any differences.

I haven't played the other versions, but what I can say about the PCE version is that I enjoyed it back in the day. The controls are razor sharp with massive action on the screen and no slowdown, large sprites with good AI, good music and the hidden ability to switch the graphics to high resolution mode (even in this mode the game still plays at the same frame rate which is really impressive).
The only negative is that it doen't really take advantage of the PCE color pallette and that only the elevator stage has parallax scrolling (which is something I could care less about since what really matters here is the awesome handling of sprites).
It could have been a tiny bit better (although the high res mode noticeably improves the graphics quality), but the way it is it's still a fun game that's worth tracking down.

Whats this Hi-res mode on PCE??

I gotta see that

You saying it hardly has any parallax??
.......Even on the first Last Resort / Neo Tokyo type stage, that's a real shame

Yes the guy from Germany wasn't right. I popped the game in yesterday and found the controls very responsive and good. That was a fault on my side. Sorry!

It's a nice game...

This game plays like a brick. And the repetiveness of the enemies, and bosses is atrocious. Total waste of Arcade Card format. Sound effects kick ass, but other than that, the programmers really didn't think to tell the artists to draw up more than 3 or 4 characters for enemies, and all they did was change the color on them. Stupid.
