Title: Anearth Fantasy Stories translation
Post by: m1savage on May 30, 2008, 03:27:52 AM
....help needed.   8-[

Didn't that subject title get your hopes up? Anyway, this was talked about briefly on the ol' forum killing shoutbox yesterday. I'm going to post some pics of some weapons, armor and such from Anearth and let you guys have a crack at translating the item names. This info will go towards good use in the future. Here's a quick one to test this out -

Thanks!

The third one is a Self Bow.

The second says "ba ze ra- do."  Best I can do with that is a Baselard.

The first is some sort of sword.  It says, "Basshu sword."  This would be easier if they used the usual RPG weapon names, like "long sword" and "broad sword," haha.

No clue on the Kanji in the fourth.

Just from the image, I'm guessing the fourth one is a 3 section staff.

Basshu sword I like. Self bow is the same thing I came up with. Battlefield staff... yes, why the hell did I use battlefield stick? lol  Staff makes more sense so one more thing to fix.  Baselard?  :-k

This is going well so far so I'll throw up a few more pics here later this evening. Thanks a lot for the help guys!

the 4th is 雷陣棍 (prob. pron: denjinkon), means something like "thunder formation bludgeon" or so.

If it's a weak sword, maybe Waster?

Well, it is pretty much a waste of your gold coins at the point in the game when you can get it.

Thanks you guys!

Yeah, the swords are definitely the hardest.  Searching for ガルベルシュ or ヴァッカード on jp yahoo doesn't bring up much more than pages related only to AFS, so they may be just made up names.

The only ones I might think differently from some of the ones I've seen listed so far would be:

pic 1, item 1 - バッシュソード - Bash Sword (As opposed to "Basshu")
pic 3, item 9 - ダッシュレザー - Dash Leather

The "u" with ten-ten marks and the small "a" generally translates as a "v" or "va". So Vacard or G Vacard, or Vakkard and G Vakkard, maybe would be more accurate. Can't use Japanese input from work, thus the romanized crap.

I have it as Vakkard in my notes too. Thanks for the help guys.

The most important thing we got translated was the Helluva Fur.
