what power AC adapter are you using? My theory is it worked fine with the JP adapter in JP, but with different voltage in US it is acting funny. Just a theory.

Welcome aboard the crazy train.

Duo_R might be on to something; perhaps your power supply can provide enough juice for HuCards, but not quite enough to play a disc.  Failing that, have you tried a few different games and/or music CDs (not CDRs)?  Maybe your game is faulty.  :-k

Doesn't make sense....the CD is spinning.
Does it make noise while the CD is spinning (sort of ticking)?  If so, the laser may need to be adjusted...but, this doesn't explain DJD's apparent success with getting it to work...
Is this an OEM power supply or aftermarket?  Aftermarkets suck, and that's that.
Is your disc damaged in ANY way?  Pay close attention to the interior of the CD (nearest the orifice in the middle)...any nicks or dings in this area might result in the system spitting errors out...
Is the system spitting out errors?  "Please set disc..." or otherwise?  Or is it just spinning (hanging)?
More details, please....
[Back to being knee-deep in two busted PCE Duos...]

first, i was using a sega ac sa-190b (10AC, 850mA) then doujindance sent me a nec ac pad-129(DC 9V 1000mA)
note: i'm using a 45w 110/220 stepdown because i'm in europe (works fine with others old consoles)

i'm using original games, tested with 2 different games same problem
the cd is spinning and after some time stop (please set disc)

i will try an audio cd

Hey buddy, but this is the exact same problem i had with a briefcase setup,cd drive would spin the disc but then fail to go any further, music cd's would play fine, but just not any game discs,so i tried the power supply in another of my briefcase 's and the games would load, but with the other system it would only work with what the briefcase system stated it needed,a power supply with about 1500 amps and 9 volts.

Try it,i'm in the UK and the poster who asked the same type of question was oli-lar or something like that.

Fixed it for him,me and i'm certain it will for you!

fraser

(I was all ready to send my stuff back to the ebay seller, but i hunted around the interweb and through lots of topics, and saved myself and the seller a few quid.)

hum, 1500mA is more than the official requirement

anyone have a technical explanation before i buy a 1500mA...

Not really sure, but I know that more amperage won't hurt your system. It will only pull what it needs to use. Back to my theory that something isn't getting enough power, we know the Hucards are doing fine (and require less power). Something is going sideways with the stepdown maybe?

Try finding a adapter locally that outputs the exact voltage your system needs, has the correct polarity (check the markings near the power port) and has plenty of amperage.

Are you using a Sega AC adapter or something with your stepdown? Throw it away!
