Title: Type of Power Adapter for Turbo Duo
Post by: lisalover1 on March 27, 2009, 09:19:25 AM
I just bought a Turbo Duo on Ebay, but it didn't come with a power adapter. What are the specifications for a generic power adapter that works with the Turbo Duo?

Do you see the little magnifying glass towards the top of the page?  It's for search.  :P

Since that's apparently too strenuous, I'll do it for you: 10V, 1000mA, center positive.  You'll have a hard time finding an exact match, but RadioShack's 273-1771 adaptor (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2049712) with a type 'Q' plug (http://www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=adaptaplug%20q&origkw=adaptaplug%20q&sr=1) has similar specs and will work dandy.

If your cheap like me, this (http://www.amazon.com/PowerLine-0900-77A-1300mA-Universal-Adapter/dp/B000QFLWAG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1238260904&sr=8-3) will do nicely.

Walmart carries it...

That Walmart power adapter works very well. I picked one up last week to power my Atari Lynx.

Hi all,

First post up and the usual AC Adaptor questions that you guys must have answered a million times.
And yeah I did see that search button but I'd just like to ask about this specific ac adaptor and it's compatibility with my PC Engine Duo.
You guys are probably aware of an eBay seller by the tag of 'doujindance' and his insistence on selling Duo's with Genesis 2 adaptors.
So having bought a unit off of him and finding that the genny adapter gets very hot, I'm asking if the one in the pic below will do the trick and run smoother?
I'm asking specifically with regard to this particular adaptor because I can get it in my hands by tomorrow at the latest. So, will it work fine with my Duo?
Thanks in advance :)

ok scavenger hunt for you, post up the stock AC adapter specs for the Duo (hint the PC Engine Duo can take the same AC as a US Duo).

Text from the front of the US Duo AC adapter, verbatim:

Quote
NEC AC ADAPTOR
MODEL:HES-ACA-05
INPUT:AC120V 60Hz 16W
OUTPUT:DC10V 1000mA
UL(R) LISTED 11J6 E81371
JMCSA Class 2 LR 67430
PLUG-IN POWER SUPPLY
FOR USE WITH NEC TURBO DUO
(+)--~)--(-)
NEC Corporation
MADE IN TAIWAN

the relevant parts are the output (10 volts, 1000 milliamps) and the polarity diagram "(+)--~)--(-)" , which means the tip is positive and the ring is negative. The input refers to the power coming from the socket; a European one might read "AC 250V 50Hz 16W".
