I just want to test the waters. Not that I know a thing about programming but I think that its an OK topic. I am sure there are several topics like this but I haven't seen them. Anyway, what do you think people?
-
So many good shooters out there already. I'd love a sequel to Vigilante.
-
Well the order I would choose is:
1. Kick and Punch. There is what two kick and punches released in the US, Riot Zone and Vigilante....oh yeah, China Warrior. But, other than that its nothing atleast nothing good. Japan had some fighters and Duoble Dragon II, but still not many.
2. Platformers. When it comes to platformers, yes there are many, but they aren't all good. In Japan there are a few more, Liquid Kids, that is a decent game. But outside of Bonk, there aren't many good platformers.
3. Adventure. There are alot of these, but I love them so I could go for a few more.
5. Action. PC Gunjin, thats gonna fill a nice void in this category but there are a few of those out, but most of them came out early in the systems life. Most of the later titles were shmups and RPG's.
6 RPG's. Can you really have too many....like frickin potato chips man, you can't just eat one....
I base this list off of what the system is lacking. I think there will be quite a few RPG's coming out over the next 4-5 years for the system (as long as everyone keeps working like they are on them. A couple of Action titles, kick and punch, and maybe a platformer or two so its all going good. I think that we all as fans should do what it takes to help along.....and if that means selling your first born, we do what we have to for the cause......OK maybe that is over stepping it a bit, your second born will work just fine.....

I'd love a great cartoony platformer. Something to compliment the Bonk games in my library.
-
platformer a la metroid, but with characters from all the classic pce games.
so, as jlued said we'd see the BONK universe... but also:
bravoman!
JJ!
Jeff!
Zonk!
etc.
etc.
some characters would be playable characters, some would merely make cameos, or be NPCs, blah, blah, blah... somehow we'd make the pastiche work...
... instead of Mother Brain, the final showdown would be with KING DROOL...
the levels would be ingeniously designed (like metroid), so that when you obtained a new "power up", you'd have access to a previously unavailbe section. All the powerups would be associated with Hudson/PCE characters... JJ powerup would let you jump very high, Jeff powerup would let you spray paint, pee in public, and dress up as a "furry", Bravoman powerup would let you say "I'm Bravoman", Gogan powerup would give you an axe for taking out certain bosses, Zonk powerup would let you fly and call a buddy to help you, etc. etc.
Hey, I can dream.

You know what, why has the Turbo NEVER had a Metroid style adventure. I bet I could come up with something :D . In fact, I have an idea in the works as I speak.

I think there is an idea in the works, if anyone out there would want to work on it, that would fit that void nicely :D
-
"kick and punch"? You mean a brawler, like Sengoku for the Neo Geo, or Aliens vs. Predator for CPS2?

Like Final Fight, Streets of Rage, stuff like that. Got a great concept in the works for one. I don't program so I am whoring my ideas out....at an alarming rate I must say. I just got a couple of good ideas and now they won't stop coming.
-
I don't know if everyone is clear about what I mean with adventure, I am thinking like Legendary Axe and Shape Shifter. Not like Snatcher (though an adventure game like that would be cool as well). I am sure everyone got it, just wanted to clarify.
-
you know, i guess i really want an "adventure platformer" as opposed to a mere "platformer"...
i thought you were talking about a point-n-click adventure game, like the LucasArts games.
-
No I don't think a point and click adventure would be all that great....but I would like to work on an action/adventure game like Snatcher though. Even if only to tell a good story....you know to hell with gameplay :)
-
A shooter... that is what the system is all about after all! :P But really I would rather just see a quality game regardless of genre...
-
I don't want to see another shooter because...well...the system is already drowning in shooters. I'd like to see other genres explored that didn't really get much exposure on the Turbo.

I kind of consider that Eternal City PCE game like Metroid a bit.
I would love to see a five-player beat'em up!

I think that would be tough to pull off without some major slowdown. I mean to make characters that are big enough to see them actual beat up anything and keep the action...well action. But I think a 2 player Co-op Beat-em up game would be cool considering I don't think the Duo even had one of those. I think there is an idea in the works, if anyone out there would want to work on it, that would fit that void nicely :D

Don't forget about Double Dragon II and Downtown (aka River City Ransom)! :) I thought those were pretty good on the PCE. I'd like to see more games like Captain Commando (4p of course :)).

Didn't Riot Zone have two player co-op, or am I just dreaming again? :?
-
No, I have never played it but I remember the reviews mentioning the fact that the two guys in the game were supposed to be partners but that the game didn't have two player co-op.....and they couldn't work together as a team...
-
Yeah, no two-player on Riot Zone.
-
Yeah I love playing Turbo games but Riot Zone was a chore to beat; it got so monotonous. Beat 'em ups in general have not aged well. An arcade stick helps but it wouldnt save Riot Zone. Any new beat 'em up would have to be uber-fast paced.
-
That can probably be done. :D
