I recognize most of those games, but what are the two PCE games in the bottom left corner?

Brandish is the far left-hand-corner game. The game to the right of it looks like one of those fuedal strategy games... though I don't really know...

AlexKidd: I never saw a Genesis (first model) used with the side-by-side SegaCD... what's that like?  Does the Genny console stay in place?  Just curious...

Very nice collection. At first I was wondering why you didn't have ninja spirit but then I saw it in the middle there. :)

I actually meant the one above that. I think the one you're looking at is Record of Lodoss War 2.

Akumajo Dracula XX = Japanese Castlevania Dracula X for Super NES.

Just for fun, here's the remainder of my Castlevania collection. One thing I kick myself for is that I forgot to include Lament of Innocence for PS2 in the picture :(

I've actually never seen one either. My Genesis is the model 2 as is my sega. Most people use the model 1 genesis with the model 1 sega cd. I believe the setup you're talking about is possible but i've never seen one so I couldn't really tell you what it's like.

Nice Castlevania collection, i'm working on one of those too. I don't have dracula x,saturn symphony of the night or the Japanese snes game(though I do have the u.s. one). And I do have the other 3 gba games that weren't in your picture.

Steve, my cousin has done a first model Genesis with a second model Sega CD before. I believe they give yout his "add-on" piece of plastic to put on the end of the Sega CD so the Genesis can fit on top of it, otherwise about 1-2 inches of the Genesis will just stick out. It looks pretty retarded, so may as well get the first version Sega CD (which I have along with a second model Genesis   ).

Bump: time expands collections and things change. let's see how far our collections come along now.

I ran into a old picture I thought i deleted along time ago.
Old picture from 2004 when I had a TG16 and black PC Engine Duo (R.I.P.)

I'll have to post pics of mine sometime. I have a Turbo Duo, PC Engine, PCE CDROM2, Duo Tap, five controllers (two Turbo Duos, one original PCE, Avenue Pad 6, Duo RX), and going to have I think over 80 games soon. I know there are some others here who have really awesome collections, I hope to have some more stuff too! I also have a PC-FX with five games and a couple controllers.

I've literally got PC Engine games scattered all over my house. I hope to someday consolidate it all, but not today.

I did manage to throw together most of my Tengai Makyou stuff. I've never really tried to collect it. I just really like it and have casually picked up items ocassionally off of eBay. I haven't even tried Yahoo Japan yet, but hope to soon and then this stuff should steadily pile up for a long time.

These are some of the magazines I have that mention TM on the cover. I must have like 30 more mags and guides that have more TM content. The mag in the middle has several pages of TM coverage including the most I've seen of the original NAMIDA(totally different then PS2) for PCE/PC-FX:

http://www.superpcenginegrafx.com/col1.jpg

Among other items that were handy that I forgot to grab are the TMII/Dragon Slayer SCD demo and the TMIII promo poster featuring hand drawn art(I ordered the CGI poster recently, but it looks like I got ripped off).

Well, it appears that he's missing this part:

It comes with every Mega-CD II unit and it is attached to the left of the Mega-CD so that a Mega Drive I will fit on it. I don't know if it's included in US models, but it was in my European Mega-CD II and it would be odd if it wasn't included with the Sega CD II.

My humble collection:

Hm, that doesn't look too bad when it's all laid out. Oh, and the Drac X is a fake. :\

That reminds me: Did anyone else get in on that sale of TTi-owned games a while back? People on TZD's mailing list got an email informing us of some third party having a sale of PCE games that had been in TTi's possession, and were used for play-testing to help them decide which titles to bring out in the US. Their stock of games was broken up into lots of 3-4 titles, and they accepted offers by the lot. I bought a few of the lots, so I've got about a dozen games from that sale that were used at TTi. Anybody else get some of those?

I need to take pics of my stuff. I am thinking how I should do it, like if I should lay it out like TJ did, though I counted his games and I have a little over double of the games he posted, and I know other people here have over double of the amount of games I have and even more than that!

Since you got so much hardware, I suggest you categorize, when collections grow big, you may have no choice but to do that. Like take a picture of the following:
>Just your hardware grouped that is if you can fit it all in the picture, or individually

>The US Turbografx 16 Hucards

>The US Turbografx CD's

>The PC Engine Japanese Hucards

> Japanese CDROM2/Super CD ROM2 games

Next time I take a picture of my Super Famicom collection, I have to take separate pictures. First the system, Super Famicom boxes that have vertical artwork, boxes that are horizontal, then the loose games.

Seriously, what gave you that idea?  I'm actually surprised on how much stuff I actually have.  I never realized that I was such a packrat until I started searching for PCE games I've always wanted but never bought.  That was back in the heyday of PSX and Sat.

Anyway, I finally got all my stuff in one place... for the most part.  Just trying to figure out a good way to store everything.

Oh yes, D-Lite, he got me back on the Turbo/PCE saddle after a 5 month hiatus after my black PCE Duo died.

I got my region modded Duo-R from him. No audio video mods, the switch was good enough for me.

Don't know about Canadian shipping though.

LOL D-Lite should have his own show.

Pimp My Console  8)

He'll break in your house, examine your old school systems and crack a few jokes about them. Then he'll confiscate it, then the rest happens from there.....

2 days later....

OMG! OMG! Shiny new S-Video jacks! A region mod switch!

In short, not a fan... yet. :)

I bought an item for $100+ that got combined in with everything, including shipping. All that I can say is that it was a great deal.

I'd suggest PM'ing D-Lite to see if he can give you at least a rough estimate of what he'd like total shipped to you and if he is currently doing custom Duo mods.

I notice you got a book of, Langrisser in there fan of the serise?

Actually, I picked up the book right after I got the game but haven't tried it out yet.  A friend of mine played it a lot on the Saturn so I figured I'd try out the PCE ver.

In short, not a fan... yet. :)

I have, the Langrisser tribute for my, Saturn pretty much it's a boxset :D

Still it's worth playing, if you know japanese or don't mind useing a walkthrough.

Another reason i have it i enjoy the artist character designs

I like his works also i have just about every art book he's put out so far.

That's another reason why i have, Langrisser still i do need, Growlanser for my PS2 still.

Satoshi Urushihara is one of my favorites. He's also famous for the anime "Plastic Little". His stuff is just too damn beautiful.

As for male characters, I like the way he draws them as well.

Ever since Working Designs kicked the bucket a few months ago, Growlanser Generations became instant collector's item material.  I played it and it's really fun! The game is pretty hard to find in any EB nowadays so you'll need to check up on eBay or some other auction site for it.

Well, the guy does take his work seriously if you ever seen his designs! :D  The guy only gets 3 hours of sleep a day while spending painstaking hours doing every little detail!

I've seen one of his artbooks sold at an anime convention.  They go from $80 to $100.  That's pretty steep.  I can't afford that much, even if I do like Urushihara's designs. :(  You sure must have a lot of money to blow if you can afford his books.  Do you have his latest artbook, Phi?

What about Ragnarock City? :)

I have both of his anime OAV's for Lemnear and Plastic Little.  The story leaves much to be desired but his designs are good enough for me.

His male characters are pretty well done too.  If you've seen the way he also draws clothing, he does it pretty painstakingly as well.

I only have one of his mangas though.  The one with the vampire kid called "Dark Crimson".  He looks like he's underage but he has sex with a lot of older women.  That's probably the reason why the manga never got a license here.

He does have a new anime out but it's a hentai called "Another Lady Innocent' or "Front Innocent" to you purists out there.

I'm a really big fan of the Saturn's Tengai Makyou IV (although its set outside of Jipang and more of a fictional USA) and I absolutely love the music to no.IV and I'm soooooo jealous you have that CD soundtrack!  (that soundtrack alone must have cost ya a bit cause I know its very rare)!!

Anyway heres an old screenie of my pc engine collection that I restarted again since last year..  I used to have the original White PC engine (back in 1988) then I got the CD-Rom and Interface unit (Which I think still looks awesome today) sold it all due money problems.. During the first half of the 90's also owned Super Grafx, Core Grafx II and a White Duo-R system.

I'm gonna buy a Core grafx II again later on in they year but I've decided to stay away from the CD stuff cause I'll probably spend waaaaay too much on those rare titles..

I sold F1 Circus and especially Coryoon just before Christmas because the amount of stuff that appears on screen was annoying me (although I miss that now and might get it again).. I'll get a new screenie later on in the year when I get more HUcards XD

Hahah well in my case anyway, you can have one rare title and be able to do without all the other top tier overpriced games, depends on how bad you wanted it. There's plenty of cheap CD based PCE software.

Sherlock Holmes comes with a miniature newspaper, which would have fit in the original box. It's the same one you read in the game, in friendly paper form. I've bought and sold this game three times and it's the first time I've ever had the newspaper.

Yes! Then consoles.... then recycled for a final time as interactive DVD games.

I wish more companies would recycle the old content / footage and make DVD releases. It's actually kool to see the footage in all of its glory, and not in the limited capacity of older computers / consoles.

Who hear wouldn't DIE to see TG-CD's It Came from the Desert remade as a DVD game? Come on! Keranu has made me into a fan of this game, what can I say?

Search the forums here for "cinemaware" and you'll find some old threads I made about some lame company purchasing Cinemaware's IP. I would totally love to buy the footage! If we pooled our money, I'd be willing to drop $200 on it... I know folks in the Atari community have purhcased rights of unfinished code from unreleased Jaguar games for minimal amounts of $$$ -- never heard of folks getting footage from FMV games, though :).

Those are presentation copies of the 2 PCE games I released through MindRec.

Good lord, that photo amazing :)

I'd love to hear about the in-store Demo CD's and the HuVideo sampler SCD. I've never heard about these items, let alone own one of them. Are they documented at pcecp?

When TG-CD was released, the only store near me that was demo -ing it was a small mom-n-pop place (in Belleville, NJ!). They didn't have a special demo cd -- they simply used Monster Lair (and other games, as they were released). They eventually stopped getting new CD games, and they got lazy, and simply left Final Zone II play non-stop. All of their loyal customers had the intro cinema (and song!) memorized shortly thereafter...

Still does. He sold Final Fantasy for MSX2 recently. It went for $250 I believe. He also sold Fray in Magical Adventure and SD Snatcher. Went for $150 each.

His name is adol-something. Must be an Ys fan. I'd love to see his Ys collection... If he has one.  :)

He was known to complete ENTIRE LIBRARIES of Japanese systems. I know he's done Super Famicom, PC Engine, Mega CD, Game Gear, Mega Drive, Neo Geo CD and Wonderswan. I wonder if he's done 8-bit Famicom, PS1 or Neo Geo AES.

And that does not even include the PS, Saturn or Dreamcast collections (thoguh you can see a few errent N64 titles in the custom made CD rack on the top right, just a *few*, however).  =)

The Instore demo CDs were something that started late in the PCE life cycle, you have probably been to a store where a PS or XBox demo kiosk is setup, it has an attract mode, and perhaps a playable demo -- they did the same thing for some PCE titles. Laplace no Ma and Faceball both had very nice demo releases like this, although I do not think that their market was in store kiosks since they had full packaging art.  The later ones are simply a disk that have an attract mode, some are playable, some are not.  They generally have release info (\\\"Buy this fabulous game!  out on 5 June!\\\") and in some cases custom cinemas that are a combination for several of the real in-game cinemas.  I have maybe 5 PCE ones, and 7 or 8 PC-FX ones.

The HuVideo sampler CD is a bit different.  It is a CD-R that was made by a (then) Hudson employee.  I have no idea how many copies were made, but it is not many.  The CD loads up and gives you a menu of approximately 10 HuVideo demos that you can view, and several options as well (display the CD buffer fill level is one, I forget what the other one is).  There is also an unreleased game on the CD -- a Dr. Mario clone which is playable, but not 100% complete.  No one knows about it since it was never released, and stayed inside the tight PCE development circle.  Until I got it, that is.  =)

They are not documented at PCECP.com -- the instore demo CDs *should* be added to the database there, the HuVideo sample should probably not be added since it was just a CD-R demo and never really made or sold.

I honestly do not remember where I ordered that rack from -- I bought
it at least 6 years ago, so it may not even be available anymore.

Here is one that if not the same though, looks remarkably similar:

Thanks for the info bt!  I've got that page bookmarked just in case I can't find anything locally.  Maybe someday I'll have a shelf like that full of PCE games. :)

For obvious reasons, I will not rip them, I keep saying to myself, one of these days I will get my "PCE Rarities Page" done so that I can include all this stuff and have pics, vids, whatever I can scrape together and have it all displayed.

Here is the full list of the stuff that I have up there:

PCE "Sample" CDs (pressed):
  Startling Odyssey
  Emerald Dragon
  World Heroes 2
  Mad Stalker
PCE Store Demo (Dragon Slayer II, Nadia, Winds of Thunder, Crest of Wolf)
Psychic Detective Series Vol 3 AYA
  Patlabor
Mamono Hunter Youko Tooki Yobikoe (*1)
  Laplace No Ma (*2)
  Faceball (*2)

Duo Sample CDs (pressed):
Duo Demo 01 (Gate of Thunder,  Bonk 1,   Bonk 2) (*3)

PC-FX Sample CDs:
  Ojousama Sousamou
  Angelique Tenkun no Requim
  Angelique Special
  Power Dolls FX
  Cutey Honey FX
  Anime Freak FX Volume 2
  Der Langrisser FX
(most of these have only the "COMPACT disc" logo and the word "SAMPLE" on them)

Developers/Prototype CD-Rs:
   Gulliver Boy (marked: "3/6 version")
Anearth Fantasy Stories (marked "SAMPLE", appears to be entire game though)
Kijindousi Zenki FX (marked "H7.10.24 ver")
   Blood Gear ("93.8.26" ?)
   HuVideo Sampler ("11-22-93")
Many of these are also marked "XXX Only" -- I will leave it as an exercise to the reader to figure out what "XXX" is (hint, it's not hard)

Special Version HuCards:
  Bomberman Users Battle
  Bomberman '93 Special Version
  Final Soldier Special Version
  Gunhed Special Version
  Soldier Blade Special Version

Notes:
(*1) appears to just be the real game but has the word "SAMPLE"
   stamped across the CD.
(*2) appear to be pre-release demos and not "in store demos'
(*3) this is the demo CD that was used in stores in the US, it is almost
the same as the US Duo packin, but only has level 1 of each game, and
rotates between them when not being played

Here's my collection:

All of those games are organized in a very specific way. To see how, click here (http://www.lazerdorks.org/images/pcecollection_guide.jpg) for a guide image :) .

It's a bit messy at the moment, but as you can see there is a Turbo Duo towards the top (it's inbetween a DVD player and a 3DO) and the PCE+CDROM2 set up is towards the left. Also if you notice towards your right is an unhooked PC-FX, along with various controllers scattered all over the place.

And lastly here is a pic of various hardware boxes, which includes the PCE Interface Unit, Turbo Duo, PC-FX, Duo Tap, Duo Controller, and PC-FX controller boxes.

Now it's time to record videos of me playing PCE games to go in Ninja Spirit's thread ;) .

bt, thanks for all the info! I have a few follow-up questions :)

Intriguing -- especially the demo CD's with custom cinemas! I wonder if PCE was the first console to use demos (either the in-store or magazine/mook variety)? I'm not familiar with MegaCD / SegaCD demos, but I wonder if PCE was the first console to utilize this marketing technique?

Wow! Does the Dr. Mario Clone have a Hudson theme (i.e. Bomberman)? What a nice bonus, though. Reminds me of the mini-games that you find in some of the UltraBox releases... but a puzzle game has greater potential for replay.

It would be really kool if you added entries for the instore demos.

Oh yes! New Question: A few years ago I was bidding on an auction for a PC-Engine LaserDisc. I never knew what it was, but I always assumed it was an in-store demo (although now, in light of what you shared with us, I'm not so sure). Have you ever heard of these PCE LD's? After I lost the auction, I tried getting info from the seller, but he didn't know English too well, unfortunately. I can't recall if the LD was produced by NEC / Hudson (I don't think the auction provided the info).

No, there is not really a theme at all, other than that the coder put his own picture in the game, and used his name (well, a derrivitive of it) for the game's name

It was most likely one of the PCE LaserActive discs.  I have a few of these (and a few of the Sega ones too), but in general their play value is very poor... the "action" based games are really nothing other than sprite based games with the LaserActive part streaming a moving "background."  It's more distracting than neat.

I am pretty certain it wasn't a LaserActive disc, because I scoured the photos for the LA logo, plus there was no mention of a LaserActive title I was familiar with on the package art... which leads me to believe that it wasn't a demo for LaserActive titles either. I confirmed with the seller that the LD would play on a standard LD player. Also, I emailed the winning bidder several times, but, unfortunately, the bastard never responded! I simply asked him if he could share some basic info on the LD and its contents, to no avail. One of these days the mystery will be solved...

Ofcoarse, LMK when you're in town, I'll give the guards & sniper's on the roof your desciption so you can pass, & I'll add your DNA to our eye retina scanner so you can get in, so all you have to do, is traverse a mountain covered in snow & molten lava, & jump the moat(bridge is out of order :? ) & enter the courtyard.  It should be smooth sailing from there.......well, that is, if you have a sail, otherwise, you'll have to find a stick or something to paddle the boat to the collection.  But, you'll know which way to head, since it'll be glowing, though, the games cast no shadow from the light.  Wierd.  Anyways, come on over :D

No, I didn't even know it was on DVD. And they took the time to put some extra material on there? I'll definitely have to check that out.

You folks might enjoy this: UHF (concerning "indie television") and Pump up the Volume ("pirate radio") helped inspire a childhood friend of mine to pursue both. Now, he had many other, more legitimate sources of inspiration as well, but these two corny films definitely resonated with his aspirations. He's done independent radio, television and film... and currently working on his second film. Pretty crazy, huh?

I'll have to watch  Pump Up the Volume again, now that I think about it. :)

Great stuff Rockabilly Paradise. You have a great collection of consoles and have a lot of games. You should display your games so we could see them (cause I can't read Japanese ). PC Engine Duo-RX are already pretty expensive and buying one in the box was probably a lot of money. Congrats on getting one. That 6 button controller always makes me salivate.

Rock - nice collection indeed. seems like you are growing your stash quickly !!  I am still ahead of ya but I'm getting nervous :) (gulp).

I will take some pics when I get back from this trip as well.  Here are some of my hardware stash so far:

- boxed Super CD addon
- boxed PC Duo RX
- DoujingDance modded PC Duo R - RGB
- PCEngine briefcase w/white CD rom
- PC Engine Core grafx boxed
- TG-16 region modded
- TG-16 + CD unit.
- PC Duo R (unmodded, in box)

I likely will downsize a little but haven't made up my mind which system will go next.  The last 2 I let go was a boxed SuperGrafx and the Core sold to Rock.  I think I want a LT next.... heehe.

In the future, let's avoid dredging up threads half a decade old and simply create a new one. There is a reason the forum software posts that warning about reviving threads that haven't been active for a certain amount of time.

This isn't everything, but it's my most recent acquisition for my PC Engine and TurboGrafx 16 collection:

(http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/6114/rgbmoddedpcengineduor.th.jpg) (http://img168.imageshack.us/i/rgbmoddedpcengineduor.jpg/)

I got this PC Engine Duo-R bundle today, and I can now say "good riddance" to the horribly unreliable add-on known as the TurboGrafx CD.  This, of course, is not all of my TurboGrafx 16 and PC Engine stuff.  I'll show the rest when I get new batteries for my digital camera.

And I found out by looking at the A/V port that this PC Engine Duo-R is RGB-modded.  Instead of a 5-pin DIN in the back, it has an 8-pin DIN.  I think I'm going to put together an external RGB to S-Video or Component converter box, since I have nothing that will accept RGB.

Here is a pic of my "freq-played" Hueys.  The rest are stashed in my giant suitcase due to lack of space.

btw, the Coryoon + Soldier Blade just arrived today from Japan!

I'll trade you my Gunhed special for that 1941 over there!

Since I'm doing some thorough cleaning, I decided to unbox some of my hardware collection and zap a few pictures to share.

Here is my collection at a glance (complete)

with the DE2 US Duo version on its way from ol' beamer, I'm pretty much complete (sans a LT!!  lol)
Out of these, the most difficult one to piece together was the Super CD-Rom units boxed.  (of course the boxed Shuttle took forever to find, but it came complete)  The tale went like this:
1> I bought a collection + SuperGrafx that came with the boxed unit, but no instructions, during the height of the economic crash in Feb 2009 for an amazing 27000 yen.
2> It took me then 6 or so months to find another superCD unit that was sold without a box yet had the instructions.
3> I then bundled up the non-complete one and sold the duplicates off, finally bringing the Super CD unit together with the instructions and all :)

The PCE RX is a fancy one.. the box is almost in mint condition.  I endedup buying a Duo-R from Michael (the guy in JP that mods Duos to RGB) and leaving the RX in the box.

I mainly play with my TG-16 for US, and the Briefcase setup for my JP/PCE titles.  Just worship the slick design of that briefcase (notice how I am pumping it with the US TG CD instead of the PCE whitie one, which is my backup unit....

That Faceball is some rare sheit.  Supposed stats is only 1000 were made, on par with Bonk 3 sample PCE huey.  I saw the faceball as part of a big bundle and snatched it up. Its fully playable too.  I made a silent review on Youtube.  Look for Japantokei or faceball sample

Here is mine.  I had this shelf special made for my growing Turbo collection.  A buddy of mine is a woodworker, and made this shelf from solid maple.  No nails involved, but some special type of lip joint that holds it together at joints.  Anyway, I dont normally have the console set up on it, but did so for the sake of this picture.  Hopefully I will fill this up over time.

The TG-CD box is so ridiculously huge.  It looks like it's almost big enough for all the other boxes to fit inside like a big mama cichlid.

P.S. - Is the LA hiding out of shame for being nude?

The 'no ebay' tag gives it away as a bootie.

My collection is a lot smaller than most peoples' around here, but I like it.

This is where I do all of my gaming.  The monitor is a Sony PVM-1341 13" RGB display.  It's small, but it has a great picture and fits my setup perfectly.  I don't really have room for something bigger unless I move away from a CRT, which I don't want to do.  I play all of my systems in RGB (except the Atari, which is s-video modded), so I've done a lot of modding, and it's totally worth it.

My only Turbo is the PC Engine Duo-R in the picture, there.  I used to have a TG-16, but sold it when I bought this.  It's from Doujindance, and is RGB and region modded, and came with a new laser assembly.  It's pictured there with a US Turbo Duo controller, but I also have a white PCE controller, and a 6-button Duo-RX pad.

Due to space constraints, the PCE isn't always what's sitting there.  The NES has a permanent home on top of the TV, but the spot where the PCE sits is where I rotate in whatever other console I want to play at any given time.

This is my collection of Turbo games.  Not the biggest, but I have a bunch of good titles there, I think.  It grows slowly, because I'm not going to pay eBay prices for things.  You can't really see it, but there's a PCE flash cart sitting on top of the cabinet, which let's me play the games that I haven't been able to buy yet.  All of the loose Hus in the pile there are in those little credit card sleeves that some of us bought cheap off of eBay.  I highly recommend them.

That's it.

Chris

Nah, I just didn't realize it was hidden until I got ready to snap the shot.... and I was too lazy to recompose the pic.  The GT and LT are nude too.  The LaserActive wouldn't have made the pic, but Beamer was kind enough to supply me with the NEC branded one, so it is now part of the family.

Damn... you guys have some GRRREAT collections! My collection is growing fast recently. I really like the original JPN interface unit and US tg16+cd more than the duo systems. It looks so much nicer IMO. I have never had a problem with the internal plastic gears (yet).

The people that have helped me with my collection most are BlueBMW, Keith Courage, Henrycsc, Senshi, Hit-Japan (ebay),...and others. Thanks guys!

The wireless controllers are actually pretty smooth, but overall they are more of a "collector item" than a "gamer item".

Ok,....but seriously, you could have the best system, and the best games, but it doesn't matter unless you have the best (most adequate) controllers! Most recently I have been seeking the 6-button accessories which I highly recommend!!

pc-engine wireless controllers
pc-engine mouse boxed
pc-engine pachinko controller
pc-engine Imagineer Arcade Stick (Also works on SNES, Sega, Neo-Geo) boxed
pc-engine Hori Fighting Stick PC (this arcade stick is SO amazing   )
pc-engine Hori Fighting Commander PC

I don't remember the exact model, but it's a Samsonite business card holder from Office Depot, like THIS (http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/420084/Samsonite-Leather-Business-Card-Holder-4/).

I had read about using business card holders here, and I just wandered around Office Depot until I found something I liked. Honestly, I don't have a lot of loose hucards, and I'm not sure how well the case would do when packed (particularly with thick hu's). You might be better off using a binder as roflmao suggests HERE (http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=10036.msg179616#msg179616).

I'm a total Turbo noob, but I finally took the plunge with my PC Engine Duo-R which I got last month.

This is from when I first got my system.

Region modded by doujindance on ebay!

Most of my games are here. Yes, that is a bootleg. I actually don't have an arcade card yet, but I have played it on an emulator. I also got a multiplayer adapter and a few more controllers. Ys III is one of the main reasons I wanted to get the system.

And here's my loose JP Dragon Spirit HuCard along with my US Final Lap Twin.

Someone likes the Blaster 3 button pad. I have one myself, and it isn't a bad controller. Reminds me of a 3 button NES pad. D-pad on the Turbo controllers can't be beat though, in my opinion.
Title: Re: Pictures of your turbo/pc engine collection
Post by: Chuplayer on September 13, 2011, 10:54:27 AM
I don't like the standard PCE pad that I have that much. I much prefer the snappiness of the Blaster Pad buttons and D-Pad. I think I got two different revisions of it, though. I had to open up and sand out the ring around the d-pad piece in order to free up the D-Pad. The other two aren't nearly as stiff out of the box.

The other two are also new old stock, but they have button continuity problems. Sometimes I have to press down really hard on the buttons in order for them to work. I thought it might have been the carbon pads on the underside of the silicone membrane under the 3 buttons, so I turned it around. I was still getting the same problem in the same button, though. The I button. I also think my other new controller has similar problems with the II button. I've given thought to fixing the circuit boards, but I think I'd rather keep the controllers strictly for spare silicone membranes. In 10 years, I'll have worn through one set of them. I've worn out NES, SNES, and Dreamcast controllers, and I'll probably wear through these, too.

Anyway, this gives me an excuse to track down 6-button pads now.

Not as extensive as some on here, but I am proud to say that the TurboGrafx itself is a one owner system.  Had it since high school and that is the original box it came in.

That is a homemade CD that has a bunch of huey roms that can play on your cd based turbo or pce console. However, most of the games have lots of bugs.

I'm not exactly sure... I've never actually opened it before. It seems to have a ton of games on it though. I think it's one of those attempts to utilize the 4-in-1's hucard code.

For the past 13 years or so, I've been carrying around a lot of boxes of junk from my childhood. Tonight I decided to do some rummaging around in these boxes and see if there were any turbo goodies in there. I was hoping for something like my old Neutopia 2 box. I didn't find anything quite that cool, but I was still happy with what was there.

Here's the overview of everything I just found. There's my old Bonk game holder I made in shop (the bottom indicates it was in February 1993, and apparently I had shop 6th period), my Bonk's Revenge poster (so happy to find this! :D ), a series of TZD flyers, and then a Club Turbo "magazine" (which apparently I attempted to make a hard cover for), and a Club Duo.

Close ups of the Clubs

I also found some random 3DO and PS1 crap, but no ones cares about that junk. :D

I always wanted one and finally found one at the flea market for a good price with a bunch of discs. It isn't really that great for regular watching because the video quality is pretty bad and it is prone to skipping, but I like it just because it is so obscure and almost nobody I know has even heard of it. I do use it regularly though, I just like the thought of watching movies on records. As for the shelves, they do look about ready to collapse, but they are actually more sturdy than they look. I need to redo the entire setup entirely because I need more room but I am running out of ideas... I just need to get my own house, but first I have a truck, a car, and 2 motorcycles to finish restoring...

I just need to get my own house, but first I have a truck, a car, and 2 motorcycles to finish restoring...

ikea has these cools shelves that hang on the wall and can hold 32 dvd cases. They are only $5 a piece.

Thread hasn't been updated, but I'm sure many of us would like to share what our collection looks like these days.

Here are all that remains of mine... it's about 1/3 the size of what it was during the heydays of 2010-2011...   :x

I recently just updated and posted my entire collection up til now of my entire PC engine collection.  Hu Cards, CDrom2, and Super CD rom stuff on ASSEMBLER.  The only game that is missing right now is mystic formula because that is still coming from JPN.  I definitely have some missing titles that I am still on the hunt for and/or saving my money for, but nevertheless.  Hope ya guys enjoy

I just got a new copy of Power Golf, although it is quite clean (brand new?) it is also quite moist and definitely seems to have been abused (warped jewel case) by the previous owner.

Since the case is warped, I didn't include it in the photo. I hope the sunlight will dry out the moisture, though.

Man...  I saw the guy with the huge shelf of PCE games several pages back and just wanted to cry.  I wish I could afford all that.  I'm ESPECIALLY intrigued by that HuVideo Sampler.

My collection amounts to my Duo-R and a grand total of 17 CDs and 2 HuCards... My dream is just to have a complete Japanese game collection, but getting ahold of stuff like Sapphire seems damn near impossible with my current budget.  I had more games before I left Japan, but ended up having to sell a lot of them.

Also, I recently acquired a bootleg HuCARD  The Legendary Klaxe (not in the photo).

Yes, indeed. Also, I occasionally use it to look up words like "debugger"..."bugger"..."slug"..."slugger"..."Seabloon"...etc.

I just wanted to share my Duo and the games I have. These pics are from just after picking up all my old gear from my dads house. We didn't have it stored very well, but it all seems intact and partially working although a recap is incoming very soon for this Duo.

(http://s15.postimg.org/uc3wai56f/DSC00262.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/uc3wai56f/) (http://s12.postimg.org/ut25g1gnt/DSC00268.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/ut25g1gnt/) (http://s10.postimg.org/amxqe9pn9/DSC00263.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/amxqe9pn9/) (http://s11.postimg.org/qvmqjjlpr/DSC00270.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/qvmqjjlpr/) (http://s13.postimg.org/n1fx6nj83/DSC00269.jpg) (http://postimg.org/image/n1fx6nj83/)

I remember beating Gate of Thunder without dying while so drunk I could barely sit upright. Man I love that game.

I guess I would like to add, all these games were purchased when I was younger, 18yrs or less. Some were purchased by me mostly at a local game shop that bought and sold new and used games. Way before Gamestop was ever on the scene. Also... I never tried collecting TG16 games but always tried to buy one every couple months with my allowance or begging my Dad whenever we walked by the Electronic Boutique in our local mall.

Is that a white Intellivision between the Sega CDX and Atari?

I was pretty sure they were black. Pretty sure the one we have is all black. If that is an Intellivision I am going to have to get pics of the one we had.

That's the Sears brand Intellivision. Radio Shack put out a Tandy brand one which is black with wood panels and there were three first party models:

Intv: black/gold with wood sides
IntvII: small & white with red/black accents
Intv III: black/silver.

There are other variants as well, but those are the main models. There's also a voice add-on that produces nice quality in-game voice effects.

If yours is all-black, it is probably just missing the cosmetic panels.

We have one that is all black with the wood panels. I didn't realize there were other models. The only voice add on my family had was the one for the Tandy 64k color computer. We that and the 5.25" floppy drive and a tape drive. I remember my dad trying to teach me how to program on it.

Miracle Warrior:  that's one impressive collection - now only if you had River City Ransom Monogatari and Spriggan WITH its Spine cards - I think you would need insurance policy ;)

that's a joke btw.. nice stash, man... but on a seriously note, with collection like that you can't manage to track down and complete copy of River City and Spriggran?  and yes, insurance with Fire/Flood might be wise, or just dump it in a bank lock box if it's cheaper...

haha, I will admit, it does bother me that I don't have the spine cards for those games, but I really wanted to play them and had the opportunity to buy them for a fair price, so I couldn't pass them up.

Nullity, I have a penchant for cardboard.  When nobody is looking, I like to smell the cardboard boxes.  Is that weird?

Some folks (OK, a lot around here) complain about Dragon Spirit (the hitbox, the sluggish default speed before a power-up)...but I say....

DRAGON SPIRIT is a solid game :)

There is less debate over Blazing Lazers (most folks enjoy it, though I think Stage 2 is too easy, too long and has too many dead spots...but it still is a great game).

Sidearms is just an under appreciated game to the masses...it gets love here. I am not the biggest fan of the powerup system, and the recycled bosses are lame for an otherwise solid game.

Listen to the CD-ROM Red Book soundtrack for Sidearms Special once you've played the HuCARD for a bit...you'll better appreciate that soundtrack if you know the main chip tunes. :)

I enjoy Dragon Spirit! The separate ground and air shooting reminds me a little of Raystorm. Plus the dragon is fun.

And I had no idea there was another Sidearms game. I gotta read up on the games....I've been trying to hold back on reading about the CD games because I don't want to get sucked into buying a TurboDuo or CD attachment for my TG16 yet. Thanks for the info.

Wait...are you saying that there's an actual CD of the Sidearms Special soundtrack?

Is Sinistron the same game as the arcade cabinet? 'Cause that game was so weird.

Sidearms is just an under appreciated game to the masses...it gets love here. I am not the biggest fan of the powerup system, and the recycled bosses are lame for an otherwise solid game.

Preach it brother...or you just trolling Josh?

Love D. Spirit! Love Saber even more. Screw ppl that talk about the hit box, that is part of the game.

Hell no, I believe this with my heart and soul.

:)

I really do.

And, naturally, I don't understand why folks talk about a "hitbox" when they really should be saying, "This game requires strategies/dodging skills that I lack."

Full disclosure;

Sidearms is actually a pretty cool game.  I might have to check out the Redbook audio "Special" edition someday.

Not super impressive, but here is my humble collection.
(http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h320/shadowkitty777/Photo Apr 24 4 05 03 PM.jpg)

The Rondo of Blood is a bootleg as well as Sapphire. I just wanted to own them for the sake of being able to play them.
The Valis 3 is actually a US version, I just put the Japanese cover art over it. lol
The boys unfortunately are currently in bad shape though. My Turbo Duo and Duo-RX won't play discs now. I bought the PC Engine when the first Duo died, and now my poor boy is benched too.
*pets them sympathetically*

*edit Forgot to include my Wii Ware titles (Have about 4-5, but I don't know if that really counts)

I do have some sealed games (duplicats only) but yes, I keep the boxes seperate. I made (make) ridgid foam box inserts to go in the empty boxes to help them hold their shape.

bumping this thread....not a new collection, but one I've had for a very long while. Getting back into my gaming habits and have my small and humble collection. Nothing like some of the members with entire complete sets.

I have other pc-e stuff like aeroblasters, metal stoke, double dragon II, jackie chan.  These are some of the ones that are in the collection that were hard to find for me in the boxes and what not.

I hope you're just showing your rarez and not the complete collection, else your priorities are all f*cked up.

O.O Is that cause they are odd first choices? lol I'm assuming they are all rare or expensive? (I don't buy Turbo on Ebay, just from MadGear usually)

You guys have really awesome collections. I usually have to go to cons to play some of those titles.

These games were never my first choices. I started playing turbo stuff back in 1995 when I was 16. Didn't start getting games until the early 2000s and have had most of my turbo stuff ever since. Some games I had in the past that I got rid of I wish I hadn't, but you live and learn.  Now that I have a TE and more free time I can get back into playing more.  :)

For the most part, yes, they're pricey.  I wouldn't say any of 'em are particularly bad games, but you'd have to be crazy to drop big bucks on Kaze Kiri while lacking Ninja Spirit or have both versions of Bonk 3 but no Bonk's Adventure or Bonk's Revenge.  And no Keith Courage?!?  Seriously, how does anyone that's been OBEYing for a while not have a half dozen of those laying around?

Ninja Spirit yes, great game. I wasn't a big fan of China Warrior though. Maybe you'll post your collection one day, it would be cool to check out.

I rarely post pictures of anything because I am lazy.  It's just a bunch of shelves of games in some randomized order where I somehow remember where I put every game the last time I touched it.

Most people would hit the hardware store for a replacement shelf support pin after loosing one in the carpet, but not Venom.  His games can multitask.
