OK, did ever before someone heard about that 6 pack of Kid's Station software for the PCE SCD, which is described as "Ultimate Rare" on the sticker below?
It is kinda kids education soft package.
Since I'm certainly sure that Thibaut and/or Adol(s) have those already in their collection, please tell us more about 'em :)
-
What's the price for those tats?
-
There was no price tag on those. I guess it's not for sale or only upon request, in case someone puts a very huge bunch of ca$h on the counter!
btw. here are the names:
KID's STATION あっちこっちどっち,
KID's STATION ことばあそび,
KID's STATION こどものあそび,
KID's STATION ふしぎなしま,
KID's STATION みんなのまち
KID's STATION あ い う え お

You should go in there and check if they have an asking price. I would love to have educational soft for PCE

LOL, would you then also love to pay thousands of bucks to have educational soft for PCE?

If you get a chance can you ask for an asking price?
I'm very curious. If it's too costly I'll have to settle for Popeye-no Eigo Asobi on famicom
-
Sure I can ask them next time I go there, but don't expect anything below thousand dollar.

That'll be awesome! I'm curious also about the spine card. Is the full set in one case, or individual cases?

Tatsujin : what is the shop where you find those games please ?
I have only one Kids Station (Fushigi no Shima) and I search the 5 others.
I have write a complete review on Nekofan website who will be update in fews days.
-
Hi Thibaut,
It was in the akibas Super Potato.
-
Yes I recognize the Darius Alpha with the sticker.
-
Just missing the 6 spin card and the special TenKey Pad 10.
-
I've never heard of 'em, but tbh, they sound totally boring. (I mean, kodomono asobi... a i u e o... etc...) Neat find, though.
Man, akiba super potato -- 'tis was good fun. I was last there... hmmm... 5 years ago now. Man, time flies.
-
What ???? Thibaut you have one and never told me !!?? We finally know they really exist ! Thanks for the shot Tatsujin !
Here's a related link:
http://www.geocities.jp/takidsawa/
Note that it's just an image of the site as it was when alive,it's not an actual NEC HE site ! A friend of mine own the 10 key pad , he got it on ebay for nothing , i didn't want it (never heard about it at the time) so he took it.
Thibaut: please show us the link to your review , i can't find it !
-
The Takidsawa site show only 5 games, Kids Station have 6 volumes. On the back cover of Fushigi no Shima there are all 6 covers.
Cosmos : the review will be online in fews days.
-
Ok fine , that's why i could'nt find it , thanks ! :)

-
Are you going to buy this set?
-
LoL, Shubi. I have seen your signed book in the game bar A-Button.
-
Yeah, I saw that when I went to Japan last month. A friend of mine knows the owner of the bar and asked me to sign a copy of the book last september.
-
So you came here and didn't tell? :(
-
Those games look pretty rad to me, but then I loved Nemurenu Yoru No Chiisana Ohanashi.
-
So you came here and didn't tell? :(
It was a rather busy trip and I didn't think of it but next time, I'll definitely give you a call ;)
-
cool for the heads up on these, damn I don't know anyone in Tokyo (my friends in Japan are living in other cities), I would love to buy this set of games.
Like others have said I'd be very interested to find out what the asking price is... :D
-
Yes, very soon with screenshots, videos, infos,...

-
The review (in french) is online : http://nekofan.free.fr/
Tell me if you want more details in english.
-
Thanks for sharing, Thibaut. Interesting stuff, but what the heck is the main character supposed to be? It looks a bit like a nicotine stained tooth wearing a fez. :?

You are too gracious in your description :)
-
I asked for its price but it's not for sale atm (as assumed). they probably wait till they will get the ten-key controller as well to make it complete. the spines are hidden in the cases. so they seem to be complete so far.
But even if it will be for sale later, you will have to put like $15'000+ on their desk.
-
Thanks for infos Tatsujin.
"But even if it will be for sale later, you will have to put like $15'000+ on their desk."
This is the seller who tell you that ? They ask 1,000,000 yens ?

Damn, I think i saw this pad too.. on Yahoo Auction a while back and going for nothing.. part of a collection set or something. Looks like our quest for rare PCE game collecting will never end ... :)

Actually, the auction for the 10 key controller was won by a friend of mine and it got for something like 15 bucks. It was quite a few years ago as far as I remember (2005 or 2006).
-
Have they sold them?
-
Last time, they were still there.
-
Last time, they were still there.
Have they added price now by any chance?
:D
-
nopy :(
i guess they still wait for the 10-key controller to make the set complete.
-
I know a guy who's got one.
-
Somebody rip this shit and put it on the net; I want to play it!
-
Some news about them?
-
Hey I saw this in a magazine here, Swedish Level nr 87 like Oct issue 2013.
They have an article going to Super Potato in Akihabara, and they actually got to take it out and took a photo, it's the exact same ones as Tatsujin saw.
The article says:
Kid's Station - Complete Collection
Price : Unknown
- This is the complete collection of the edutainment-series Kid's Station for PC-Engine Super CD-ROM2, the games never got released in usual stores, it was only for students who used the Kumon study method that could buy the games in the beginning of the 90's, Therefore the games also became unusually rare. They have gotten a bid on 130.000kr (20.000$) - and refused.
End Of Article.
The games are complete but as you all might say might be missing a specialized controller, no mention of that..
-
The only copy of the speciallized controller for those CD's is owned by a friend of mine. He got off ebay for 5$ back in 2006.

I think your article might be a bit bullshit, cause the price was set quite some time ago....

So, the most intriguing thing is to learn that the "Kumon" learning centers I see popping up in my town/surrounding areas originated in Japonais?
I must investigate.
Back on topic: NATURALLY I'D love to play these edutainment titles. You never know....

From the Kumon Site. -
Kumon was founded in 1954 in Osaka, Japan, by Toru Kumon, a math teacher who wanted his son to enjoy learning math and be prepared for the rigorous college entrance exams. While teaching calculus to high school students, Toru began researching the skills a student needs to excel in high school-level calculus. Each day, he’d give his son, Takeshi, short assignments to complete. The work was incremental, allowing his son to master each concept completely before learning a new skill.
As Takeshi’s ability improved, parents took notice. Interest in the self-learning method continued to grow, and the first Kumon Center opened in 1958. The instructional method Toru Kumon created was so successful that Takeshi was solving calculus problems by the time he was in the sixth grade.
Kumon opened the first center outside of Japan in 1974 in New York. The success of Kumon’s math program in America led to the conception of a reading comprehension program, which was developed by a team of expert literature and reading specialists. Kumon’s reading program was launched in 1991. Using the same self-learning model, the program advances a child’s reading comprehension skills.
For more than 50 years, more than 16 million students worldwide have experienced the results of the Kumon Method of Learning.

The Korean couple that lived next to me growing up in IL actually ran a Kumon center quite successfully. The wife picked up running the centers as hobby (her husband was a engineer) and it really took off for her. One of her kids actually went to Yale too, both of them were pretty smart cookies.
