Title: Back in the Turbo Scene
Post by: Paul on November 02, 2010, 06:32:38 AM
I had a TG16 probably 3-4 years ago but ended up selling it.. now I've had a lot of systems before, but I never regretted selling any like I did with the 16. But I'm back! Last week I bought a Turbo Grafx 16 with a controller, 2 turbo stix, the multi tap, and the following games:

Military Madness
World Class Baseball
Dungeon Explorer
Jack Nicklaus Golf
Battle Royale
King Of Casino
Keith Courage in Alpha Zones
Alien Crush
Andre Panza Kick Boxing
Bonks Adventure
Chew Man Fu
Cratermaze
Galaga 90
Vigilante

I am pumped to be back, and my next purchase is definitely going to be Air Zonk

Ditto! Welcome back and enjoy the goodness. You were asking in shout about Air Zonk earlier in shout and were surprised that I only payed $20 for it. Don't use eBay as a price guide. :)

Welcome aboard.  After getting Air Zonk, I'd say some five-player Bomberman '93 goodness might be in order.

wb Paul.... I recommend saving up for a CD capable system (and a way to play PC Engine hucards as well - a converter or Japanese system).  There's LOTs of great stuff out there!

Another man saves himself from the depths of Turbo purgatory.  Welcome to the Forums.  I just saw an Air Zonk go on email for under $20.  There are some good deals to be had.

Good luck!

if anyone can lead me to a good deal on Air Zonk I'd appreciate that! I'm going to buy some games here and there along the way, maybe a few a month lol my ultimate goal is to have all 94 Turbo games. Glad to see all the replies, shows that the Turbo still has much deserved support.

Welcome to the forums! November seems to be the month for new recruits. Once BlueBMW sets you up with the fantastic Air Zonk, be prepared to have the music stuck in your head for days!

Oh, and I think there is actually 136 domestic Turbo Grafx releases. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Guys we need to set Paul up with PC Engine City!  All episodes.

Also, do yourself a favor and check out Chris Bucci's reviews on Youtube or Sunteam's PC Engine Bible.

146, actually, according to PCE Daisakusen. Not sure where 94 came from, though....

Is that not including the duplicates like Ys Book I&II, and Bonk 3?

HuCards only; there's 96 of 'em - 2 system cards = 94.

Is that not including the duplicates like Ys Book I&II, and Bonk 3?

That includes both HuCard and SuperCD versions of Bonk 3; it doesn't count the pack-in version of Ys I & II separately or include Insanity or Meteor Blaster DX - Signature Edition.

Welcome to the Turbo Family! I've been out of the game myself for a while and need to work on completing my US game collection.

I officially have the 14 games now.. I'm pretty happy, I'll be making some time off on my days off. I don't know what it is about this current generation of systems (referring to the 360,Ps3, ect) but I just can't get into them. I'm more of a simple N64 and Turbo kind of guy.

I'm really liking Galaga '90 even though I played it just for a few minutes when I got home from work tonight. The music is a bit quirky but I got to level 6 in just a few minutes lol and like the space invaders feel. Bonk, man I love that dude, I'm not sure why he didn't take off as he's more an appealing mascot to kids than Mario imo. I'll post more thoughts in the coming weeks as I get more into the games.

Feels good to be playing a 16 bit system not named SNES or Genesis

Obeying does feel good. :)

Galaga '90 is high end. Just remember that the blue orbs that you pick up will warp you to a different dimension. The different dimension are also a higher difficulty.

Anyway, glad to see you're enjoying the Turbo.

I just got my first turbo Grafx and my only games are Keith Courage, Dungeon Explorer, Blazing Lazers, and Legendary axe. I was wondering what some good starter games were.

Alright, congratz on getting the Turbografx-16 system again. I also do Turbo reviews on Youtube myself but there's on a cheap camera so don't expect masterpieces. Some of my favourites for the system are Dragon's Curse, Super Star Soldier, Bonk's Revenge, Military Madness, Bomberman 93, Legendary Axe and many more.

A CD system is a must if you can afford one!  WAY worth it!  Get a Duo-R or RX... you wont regret it.

Yeah, but they don't give the award "You-Tuber of the Month" to people with just good recording equipment.
