Apart from Bomberman?
I guess Street Fighter is in there. Any particularly good 2 player shoot em ups? Pop and Twinbee?

Lode Runner Battle

UNIVERSAL: Dungeon Explorer I & II are probably the most fun I've had in old-skoolness.
ME: I've had a blast with Wonderboy III (Monster Lair), but both people need to have skills to get far. Same goes for Buster Bros., which is lots of fun.
MENTALLY CHALLENGED (ME): I've had a stupid amount of fun with MotoRoader. I suppose you need to get a bunch of folks together and see if they dig it.
AeroBlasters is the shoot-em-up I've had the most fun with playing 2-player co-op (you have a special weapon when working together!m), but both folks should be decent skill-wise, otherwise you just eat through continues.

esteban summed up the best of the rest. Monster Lair is surprisingly fun as a two player game and every girlfriend I've introduced it to loved it.

There are plenty of good ones, but three of my favorites are Double Dungeons (http://www.thebrothersduomazov.com/search/label/Double Dungeons), Asuka 120% (http://www.thebrothersduomazov.com/2009/07/asuka-120-maxima-burning-fest.html), and Puyo Puyo CD (http://www.thebrothersduomazov.com/search/label/Puyo Puyo CD).

Get out of my frigging head dude. I was going to say all 3 of those. Asuka 120% is soooo badass. The gameplay is perfect in that game. Playing Asuka 120% shows what is wrong with fighters of today.
I forget since I have no friends, but isn't Buster Bros. 2 player also? That games great as well.
-
Probably had the most fun having friends over to play either Motoroader or Cadash.
-
Bonk III
Never played 2 players, but must be fun!

SF2 is the best 2-player tournament fighter not so much because it's arguably the best on the system (and it is), but because the CD load times on all the other games really kill the mood when sitting around with a friend. Godzilla loads reasonably fast, but the ACD discs are atrocious. The time it takes to configure my system selectors, hook up a Duo Tap, fish out the special 6-button controllers, make three attempts to get the Arcade Card to work in the Miria converter, and then finally load World Heroes 2 is the same amount of time it takes for the "yeah-let's-play-video-games!" enthusiasm to wear off.

Word. Aeroblasters is the best, but Ordyne and Psychic Storm are better when playing with friends who don't know a shooter from a hole in the ground. Two-player Sapphire is good, but the screen gets a little busy for my taste.

Double Dragon II. Awesome version of a great franchise. What could be more fun than beating the crap out of some baddies with a friend?
-
Which motoroader is the best?
-
Motoroader II, hands down.

Motoroader II, hands down.
I actually prefer 1, but that's mainly because I don't like the graphical changes made to part 2. I have never played MC though, and it looks awesome. It is on the top of my needs list (with Coryoon).
-
Back to the topic at hand: Bubble Bobble 3: Parasol Stars is a great time with 2 players. The only time I've ever beaten the game, was playing 2 player with my wife.
-
The dwarves in Don Doku Don are way cuter. Chicks dig it.

Beard rides...one dollar! :P

Apart from Bomberman? ('94 for the win btw)
Bonk III, if you have played New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii, it's a similar experience. Just 16 years before hand and with much more replay value.
-
Metamor Jupitor, a shooter that supports 3 players at once. :)

I totally forgot about this game, and someone else mentioned Cadash. Both games are a lot of friggin' fun with a partner in crime.

I prefer MotoRoader 1, too, and here's why: upgrading in this game feels the most fun (plus, the music is superior). Also, I agree that MR2 looks like ass. I just don't understand what happened. Now, MR MC...I haven't had a chance to really play it enough to cast a final judgment on it, but solo mode seems quite challenging (one mistake and you won't place in a decent spot). I wish I had played more 5-player with MC, but it has been a long time and I can't recall how far we got and if everyone enjoyed it. You know what that means: MotoRoader MC party at my house :)
I trust nat's views in general, so I should give MR2 another chance, but it really was disappointing (lackluster) as far as I am concerned.

SHUT UP! Did I know this and then forget? How could I have forgotten about it, though? I might have to scour the forum just to see if I knew this, because it is vaguely familiar, YET I HAVE NEVER TRIED IT, EVER! WTF??!!
And, as you know, I never use "WTF", because that would be unseemly.
----- UPDATE: It wasn't even that long ago! And SuperDeadite was the one who shared it back in 2009, too.
----- STILL AWESOME, even if it isn't truly 3 independent ships. ;)

Sf2,bomberman panic,dungeon explorer

In addition to the other fine suggestions, check out Splash Lake, Kabuki Itouryodan, Motteke Tamago, 1943, Pop 'n' Magic, and Faceball (saved the best for last :D). Two others that I have yet to try but look promising are Chiki Chiki Boys and Magicoal; anyone here try either of these with two players?
-
Is Magicoal playable without knowing Japanese? I wasn't sure if you were saying you haven't played it all or just the two player mode.
-
I've made a couple brief forays into Magicoal without reading Japanese and it doesn't seem too bad. I've only sunk two hours into the game, but the couple of roadblocks I've hit have been cleared up by going back and talking to everyone again. I've haven't gotten the game to work with the MB128, however.

and Faceball (saved the best for last :D).
Only four-player FPS on the Duo! :)

OK, someone needs to record a video of 3 people playing Metamor Jupiter. I want to see it in action.
-
We used to take our PC Engines to school and play multi-player Motoroader in our lunch break, that was alwyas good fun (until the deputy head-teacher decided to ban consoles because he thought they 'broke' a monitor).
-
Oh, I second Splash Lake! That game rocks anyway. Add 2 players and you have mucho awesomeness!

Sounds like an awesome school. I think the monitor just didn't want to play anything but pc engine after that 8)

damn I read about that!! Its one of my favorite games. I wish we did that at the mgc

Power Eleven and World Class Baseball!!!!!!

I can't believe it: I didnt even know Splash Lake was 2-player, and it's a game I enjoy playing. Splash Lake and MotoRoader MC party!

I love Splash Lake, but I actually think it plays better as a 1 player game. Two player mode seems to be more problematic than good.
-
Sonic Spike - 4 player VolleyBall!
Boom.
-
Bomberman 94
Dungeon Explorer
Street Fighter II
Puyo Puyo CD
there my favorite multiplayer games, I just wish they had made Forgotten Worlds a 2 Player game for the PCE like it is on the Genesis and in the arcades.

It is a lot harder, because you are always accidentally dunking each other.
