LF: Someone to fix a Turbo Express
« on: August 29, 2011, 05:38:31 AM »
I have a TurboExpress that needs to be repaired.

It didn't turn on (i.e. no audio/video/response) & hasn't for many years.
I initially thought that after replacing the capacitors, it would work right away. But to no avail, the unit still doesn't work with new caps. (Thanks to Red Ghost for his very helpful chart & diagram guide).

So I wanted to ask if there's anyone who can offer to do one of two things:

1. Send me a thorough guide that I can give to a repair man over here to follow & repair my TurboExpress. Preferably something that covers all the possible problems, so that even if he may not be familiar with a TurboExpress, he will be able to understand what needs to be done. The cap replacement diagrams here are pretty thorough, so something along those lines. Again, the caps have been replaced already, so it's something else.  :-k

2. Offer to fix my TurboExpress. This comes more of a welcome option for me, since this forum has some pretty talented guys here who are very accustomed to working with the unit. The thing is, I live in Manila, Philippines, so I would prefer if it was someone nearby (whether in the country, or in a nearby country), so that shipping costs don't kill me on top of repair charges. :( The setup will probably involve me sending my TurboExpress over to the tech guy, and have him fix it, then I pay him (via Paypal preferably) if the repair is successful.

I would appreciate some help in the matter from anyone in the forums with ideas to get this "black portable baby back on its feet."

Thanks, guys!

I recently had BlueBMW change the audio capacitors and install a region mod on my Turbo Express. Top notch work from a great guy!

Before you ship it off did you check the fuse?

I'm going to be in New York from 11/15 - 11/20. Is there anyone in the area who can repair my TurboExpress? I'm considering my options.

farankoshan - Perhaps I misunderstood your issue. I thought you said you could see the images on screen when you held a light up to it at a certain angle?

Yes, I can. So I'm pretty sure it's lamp/light related. :) But I don't have the know-how to perform such an operation. Not unless, some of you can do a step-by-step guide to replace this lamp, or do that LED option you suggested. :) You see, I'm not the one who is going to be doing this soldering job. My friend will, and he doesn't speak/read english too well, so I'm going to have to interpret what you guys mean & translate it further. :)

If you guys are willing to post here, you may be able to help me. :)
