Hori Fighting Commander
« on: July 30, 2012, 10:08:25 PM »
Got my FC through from Samurai Ghost yesterday (thankyou!), and couldn't resist plugging it in for a game of Street Fighter II.  I like it, a lot, but it's noticably smaller than the Avenue in your hand.  I haven't actually compared it to a SNES pad yet.

Overall though I'm finding the pad is really responsive, and though it seems loose (quite a lot of give around the x/y axis) it really sticks to your thumb, and the height on the z axis is just about spot-on.  Same with the 6 face buttons.

For some reason though, I'm finding it unusually hard to pull off dragon punches.  What's everyone elses opinion?

you mean the Hori Fighting Commander PC?

it's slightly wider than the SFC pad (ca. 8mm) but the rest seems to be the very same as far dimensions going.

it's a very good pad for fighting games, esp. SFII'. only negative point is the placement of the button-V rapid switch just next to the D-pad. it always gets in my way when performing hadoukens and such.

i used to have one pad for SFII usage only, where i filed that switch down to ground zero.

Yeah, that switch get's pushed up all the time - it doesn't do anything if you don't touch the button though, and TBH, I rarely do.
