TG-16 Cd-rom help
« on: June 06, 2012, 08:03:46 AM »
Hi guys

I just bought a tg 16 cd rom system off of ebay and the disc won't spin.
It does power on but I don't hear any noise form it when I try to play the disc.
I was told you usually hear a grinding sound when it is bad gears.
Anybody have any idea if it is the gears or could it be something worse.
Also would anyone be willing to repair it for me if it can be repaired.

Thanks

Update:

The gears appear to be ok but I can't be absolutely sure.
In or out of the interface unit when you power it on the display says "PC" or "0"
but there is no motor sound of any kind from the player and it doesn't do anything else
I have moved the laser assembly to the end and beginning of the track and that didn't help either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

are you willing to work on it?
if willing, ask anything, and we will walk you through it.
otherwise send it to me, chop, bluebmw, kieth (im sure theres more) and we will fix it for you.
the middle gear gets stuck, and wont turn.
if its stuck, but not stripped it wont make noise.
you may need  to drill it out, as the gear swells

Thanks thesteve

If you have the time to take a look at this thing that would be great.

How much would you charge to fix it?
PM me the details.

Thanks for your time
