Price Check: turbografx cd or pc engince cd rom drive
« on: July 11, 2013, 09:45:30 AM »
Hi, I recently aquired a turbografx with cd dock station and system 2.0 card but no cd drive. I was wondering about how much a cd drive costs nowadays. I don't really care if its for the turbografx or the pc engine as long as its working. If anyone knows their average cost and who may have some for sale let me know. I may not have the cash to buy one right now, but I wanted to know for the future. Thanks!

I was in your shoes a couple of years ago, and it looked like $100+ for a well functioning drive. I ended up buying a pc-duo instead. Not sure about now, though.

The forum member Keith Courage here often sells refurbished drives.  I picked one up from him not too long ago for something like $75.  You might want to shoot him a PM and see if he has any currently available.  He does top notch work too. :)

About $80 bucks working in my experience in the last 6 months, give or take $20 depending on seller, where ya go, ect.  I would personally suggest the units redone by KC.  good price and prob. more reliable.

BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere.
