I dont think anyone ever claimed KC was a bad game, it just wasnt a great choice as a pack in and dint really show off the system's capabilities.
Games currently in play:
PS3: COD Ghosts
TG16: Boxyboy

I think that alone would have made the TG16 a comparable force (NOT THAT IT WASN'T IN TERMS OF SPEC I MEANT COMMERCIALLY) to the Genesis and the SNES.  That game is amazing and I am still in AW of it.  I have no idea why it wasn't a packin game but that one simple move I think would have righted the whole North American Operation to be at least on par or who knows if they could have gotten some proper 3rd party support, let us not forget Nintendo meddling with Third Party support of other consoles.

Completely off topic, but you own an Evo I take it? I may be looking at a X or Ralliart next year as a daily. Then in 2021, look at importing a IV.
Now, back on topic...

I still believe that Bonk would have been a great pack in from the get go, if it would have been possible. It would have give the system a solid character, and consumers would have had a face to put with the console. Plus it is a fantastic game.

Who knows what would be available in 2021 or if ISIS has taken over by then, that's a long time.  FWIW the best Evo ever made is the Evo VI TME.  The second best is the IX which is what I have.  The X is a VERY good car and certainly the best choice in terms of a daily but it REALLY needed a proper 6-Speed.  Just buy one new right now, smoking deals and low financing before the rates sky rocket.

Bonk is great but I feel that Blazing Lasers is a far more impressive game and really shows what the game can do.  Bonk for what it is is a fun game but almost no challenge what so ever and not very impressive graphically but it is cute as can be.  Blazing Lasers has AMAZING speed, great music, FX, sound, it has everything and is a perfect game.  That game as a pack in would have simply sold WAY more TG16's than the 2 million that were sold.  It's what the TG16 did best and I don't think the Snes (SPEED) of the MD (COLOR) could have competed on that level as it is a decided wedge between the consoles.

As great as shewties are, the genre has never sold well enough for one to be considered a system seller (except maybe Star Fox).

Well I am in the US (not sure where you are) so I can not get a IV imported here until the stupid 25 years are past (due to the dumb import law). We are close to paying off the miniature van. Once that is done, going to save up a bit, then go get a new car for me. That's why I am waiting. And I would like to get a IX, but am afraid of trying to find one that is not beat on or over modified. Besides, that was the last real Evo since it still has the 4g63 in it.
And you are wrong, the IV is the best, then the VI TME (I know that the VI TME is actually better, but I am just a huge fan of the looks of the IV, so it always comes first  )

This was also kind of my train of thought.

But I think what you point out as Bonk's negative parts for being a pack are what I think would have made it a great one. You get people to start playing. They get interested in the game, and want to get others like it. But then again, maybe the TG16 would have ended up like the Wii where there are only a few games that are not fluffy, fun for a bit type games.

Agreed, and agreed. I really loved Star Fox.

Then sell a kidney and get DUNGEON EXPLORER II!!

Or buy the fully-playable-for-non-Japanese-speakers PC Engine version for <$30!
Or just burn your own copy.

Or hit up this lady for a copy on the mean streets of Kowloon. If you go, ask for Jennifer. She's a sweetheart.
