Another Megaman question - this time GBA
« on: January 21, 2014, 08:00:08 AM »
I have a small GBA game collection and want to add one or two MM titles to it.  Which ones should I hunt down for?

Mega man Battle Network 1-3 gets my vote, also Mega Man Zero. At least the first game, possibly more if you like them :)

A mm strategy game? Interesting.

How about the gbcolor and the original gb games?

I had a lot of fun with the first three original GB games as a kid.

I discovered the two GBC Xtreme games (which felt like GBC ports of SNES X1 and X2) about 5 years ago and they are just OK. I might've gotten more into them had I discovered them in 99 or whenever they came out.

The first MM Zero for the GBA is a solid game, but the MM games in general started getting tough as nails around this time, with lots of trial and error gameplay. Also note that if you have a DS, you can get all four Zero games on one cart for about $20.

Excellent! I'll have to look into these.

No DS on my side, but I have considered picking one up with the GBA port. How good is the screen on the DS for GBA games. I've had very little experience with the handheld.

The GB functionality is the only reason I ever owned a DS Lite.  I would buy a 3DS in a heartbeat if they kept that.  I sold the Lite a couple years back and regretting it.  The micro is awesome and has an incredible screen.  I'm not a big fan of the SP, but at least it plays GB games too (with a backlit screen).

It will be interesting to see how the Retron 5 handles GB.  Also, and I keep singing it's praises, but the GameCube GB player is a must have.

I have the GC/GBA player combo and it's really nice, there are two things that I don't like:

1)The desaturated look it outputs. I was hoping for vibrant SNES like colors.

2) The controller sucks, but I'm working on getting an SNES to wii/GC adapter.

Gonna check on a DS lite.  The micro is just too damn small.
