shirei sensen/war of the dead

Anyone know anything about this game? got it as part of a bundle of imports. It actually looks pretty interesting, but I have no idea what's going on or what the goal is. GameFAQs doesn't have a faq for it. (I may end up writing one if I can ever figure this thing out.)

ok, this is totally off the top of my head: so a big I THINK disclaimer...

1. totally wrong
2. totally wrong
3. i remember somebody complaining about the lack of the ability to save games?  or perhaps there were long manual entry passwords?

now i may actually look it up in pcecp.com,  or not :)  i'm too lazy

EDIT: 1 out of 3 ain't bad!  And to think I thought it was military strategy game... :)

It's a sidescrolling platform RPG very similar to Zelda II where you have overhead maps and overhead towns as well in this game, while random battles are in sidescrolling format (this is a favorite genre of mine). I have no clue how the story goes, but it's about a chick with green hair that has some cool weapons like knives and guns.

Since it's a old game, there are no saving options, just passwords and they are LONG passwords and to top it off, they are in Japanese! I would like to see you or anyone else write a walkthrough for this game because I love platform RPGs and this one might be better than my first impression. However, just prepaire for the password situation.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Its not worth playing unless you use an emulator with save states or you can beat it in one sitting.  The passwords are literally nearly impossible to use.

Haha, I thought of your GameFAQs review when I posted about the passwords.

i will get my copy of war of the dead next week or so from japan.
passwords cant be much worse than the ones in makai hakkenden shada (over 45 characters long).

the trick is: just make a photo after everytime you save the game and get a password. its easier to type it in from a photo than to write it down on your own.

Currently playing:   (Started  . Feb. 2013)

Man this game is below average. The icing on the cake is the red/pink paper that comes with it with a disclaimer to not max out your EXP because if you do it will overflow and your character will die lol. Getting killed by a monster 10x more stronger than you on one of your first battles is not fun too.

Never gave the game a serious try though so I could be wrong about it being below average.

Haha! Holy necro post.  I guess if you're going to necro post this is a good thread to do so.  Carry on.

P.S.  I actually like it better than the MSX2 version.  I have never played the pc88 version or the sequel though.

The sequel is a totally different game, and it's glorious.  Real shame it didn't get an Ob3y port.

Isn't it isometric?

I didn't even know there was a sequel.

Of course, I don't know much about either game.
