Raised pad underside of AV out DIN
« on: September 20, 2014, 08:18:05 AM »
Hey all,
So i recently got my duo R in and I thought the rgb scart cable might have been bad because you really had to fiddle with it to even show yellow color at all, everything was predominately orange.

I took apart the console and I could see that the mod job was done with too thick of wire for the three component panel mount jacks on the back of the console. I clipped those as I'm not even wanting to use them, but I realized that the pad had come up on the green wire where it was tapped on the underside of the mobo.

For now, its basically attached to the pin by solder but thats about it.
Is there anything I can do?

*edit I should add the stock AV composite cable works fine, so its possible the scart cable is still an issue as well.

Well it looks like the issue with the video was in fact the cable itself. I also de-soldered the wires going to the panel jacks to avoid any lifting of other pads in the future.

Now, I have no Left audio. I've verified this with the regular AV cable and the scart cable.
Does anyone know if the panel mod (composite, L/R) and an RGB amp would cause this?
Maybe this lifted pad is the culprit as I'm not sure what that line is where the pad is lifted.

Thanks

the 8 pin din mod only adds 3 pins and rgb color, it leaves the audio and composite video in place. Look for a scart cable pinout and do a continuity test with a meter from the pins of the scart cable to the audio connections on the pcb

Thanks Punkic,
I reopened the unit and the pad that was lifted, was also the pin that was tapped to the L channel of the panel mounted RCA jack.
I took a piece of wire and connected it to the next point on the trace and that seems to have fixed the issue.
