Screen Issue PCE + CD-Rom² + IFU diagonal lines

A friend of mine bought an IFU from japan, I fixed CD-Rom²-Pinion-Gear. When the CD-Rom starts, fine grey vertical lines flashing on the screen. Furthermore, diagonal lines are visible in graphics, going from upper left to down-right.

We swapped the Engine and the CD-Rom² into my IFU (both units are the ones with Shield-Contacts in the CD-Rom/Engine-Tray. I do not have the issues visible. So for me, this strange lines must be created by the IFU.

Is this an already known problem ? Hope, there might be a solution.

So no issues with playing chip games?

I came across this problem once myself and the IFU was indeed bad. Never found a solution for it at the time. It was cheaper to just get another one than it was for me to spend my time trying to figure out the problem.

The exact symptom was as soon as a CD game would load the whole thing would freeze with lines across the screen. All chip games worked just fine otherwise.

Also, as a last resort it never hurts to clean out the CD drive port on the IFU using a toothbrush and rubbing alcohol.  I've fixed a few doing this.
