Hi all,

Just bought a CDROM2 interface unit on a trip to Tokyo and got it home to find that the CD drive lid clicks (well, its more of a snapping sound) when opened. When opened, the lid gets about half way then 'clicks' as it's risen higher. Any idea what could be causing this? I bought it from Super Potato and have no way of returning it, but I'm a bit reluctant to open it up and poke around in case I damage it

Also, the Power Lock switch is very stiff - to move it to the right I have to put quite a lot of force on it and I'm concerned it may snap. Again, any ideas how to remedy this?

Thanks!!

tighten the two tiny screws on the left side of the CD drive lid. Usually that fixes the clicking when opening and closing.

Those power switches are always stiff to move. Pretty normal. I wouldn't worry about it unless you are hurting your hand/fingers from the pressure.

However, if you feel it may break from the pressure in some rare cases I've put some penetrating oil in the switch which frees it up quite a bit. The bummer is in order to do this you would have to take apart the IFU since you can't reach the area of the switch from the outside of the casing.

Great, thanks for the tip I'll give it a go.

Turns out the switch isn't as stiff as I thought, I just didn't have the PCE pushed all the way to the back

Btw, what is the correct way to power on the units, PCE first then power lock or vice versa?

Doesn't matter which way you do it power switch wise.
