Modern External monitor for PC-engine
« on: March 08, 2015, 06:38:01 PM »
I know NEC made an external small monitor for the PC-engine. Also that there is an LT but those are at crazy prices right now. Also they seem to be sending composite video signal. I have seen modern Video adaptors for the PC-engine that offer RGB SCART out and some have include other video out. Even a component. Has anyone made an LCD that can snap on the back of a PC-engine and hopefully send a clearer video signal than composite? Anyone working such a thing?

It would be cool if there was such a device.

best bet, ntsc version of ps one lcd  monitor (has rgb input, requires soldering or hacked ps1 socket/ ps1  video adaptor from output  ), 640 x 480 5", cost on ebay around US$100/GBP70/JPY8000 - marginally cheaper in japan, but it's noted that you may have to use/make rgb amp

here is a Gameboy advance mod ver ( extreme)

I've been thinking of making a custom dock for the PC Engine like this for some time now.  The grafxbooster ttp will release soon and might be a good way to tap the RGB of any system you dock.  The trick would be to make a nice enclosure that doesn't look too ghetto.  Still working on my design.  Maybe some day I'll get around to making it!

Needs more OBEY, but I'm working on it.

Haven't vastly superior screens gone on sale since the PSOne was released? I remember not being all that blown away by that monitor even when I bought it new.

The PSone monitor could be the ticket. If only I knew an electrical engineer.
