Twitch?
« on: April 11, 2015, 12:04:05 PM »
Anyone here watch anyone on twitch or stream on twitch?

I like having a stream going on, on my second monitor. I usually try to find someone playing a game I have an interest in. But I usually end up watching manvsgame when he is playing Demon, Dark Souls or Bloodborne as I don't really play any modern games besides those.

I don't think I have played any other modern game besides those in the last 3-4yrs. Everything else has been retro games.

So... What are you're thoughts in addition to the first question?

Twitch generally doesn't interest me.  If I'm gonna watch someone play a game, it's only because they're reviewing it or it's a longplay I'm watching to figure out how to get past a certain obstacle (boss, puzzle, whatever).

no, because I would rather spend that time watching myself play a game as I play the game.

I don't care about someone else's jive while gaming.

Well, I don't have cable tv or anything I just use netflix and twitch almost exclusively to fill in my TV watching needs.

I am a huge fan of Stargate SG-1. When the Sci-fi channel (now SyFy I think) canceled the show I canceled my cable tv. I have been without ever since. The above solutions for me fill that void and I never have to put up with commercials.

I was mostly curious because I do enjoy watching people play games while I am either doing the same or whatever randomness that I am currently doing. Or if people are interested I could stream some of the more favored games  but I assume most people here have played the majority of the NEC library more so than I.

Twitch has an audience....it just isn't me.

I will admit that if someone were to play Athena NES, and they were a master at the game, I would be curious enough to watch.

Otherwise, it's not for me.

Personally I have no interest in watching other people play through games (I do like YouTube game reviews) but with my lack of interest I think I'm in a massive minority, these type of videos are very popular in the majority.
Look at PewDiePie, I've never watched one of his videos but as far as I'm aware he's the most subscribed channel on YouTube with his "Let's Play" videos.
I can only see Twitch and live gaming streaming getting more and more popular, possibly even eventually phasing out the other type of video game related videos like reviews and pickups etc..

Oh and YouTube are copying Twitch and planning to launch a YouTube live streaming site.

I only occasionally like watching specific 'event' streams like AGDQ or a specific player like Jeff Green, the Black Dragon.

I do watch the WCS tournament streams of Starcraft 2, which is one of the most difficult games to play competitively IMO.  I also use Twitch to look at new games when they come out.

I watched a bunch of Starcraft 2 when the game was pretty new.  I lost interest sometime before Heart of the Swarm was released.  I still watch it occasionally but I don't follow as much as I did.

I usually have one screen with a video game up and another with a Twitch stream up. I don't know why but I've been doing this for ages. Currently I'm really into CalebHart42 (Megaman SNES games), firedragon764 (Luigi's Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine), and Geoff (Super Monkey Ball).

Used to be very very very into Starcraft 2 streams. But lately to get my Starcraft fix, I'll put Broodwar steams on. Oh and anything from the FGC, especially tournaments and Super Smash Bros.
