Avenue Pad 3 goodness
« on: August 09, 2006, 10:04:34 AM »
Well i ordered an avenue pad 3 the other day, should be here tomorrow or the next.  I already have a 6-button hori pad, but its a pain because in games like Bloody Wolf you have to reach OVER the slowmo switch to hit the Run button for grenades.

Since reading the 6-button pad thread, i was happy to learn that the 3button pad just lets you set either Run or Select to the 3rd button. This is great, and im expecting to finally be able to beat Bloody Wolf now :D

Pretty useless thread, but im pretty stoked.

Lol I was thinking about getting one for the same reason. Mainly for shooters where the speed button is set to select.

I was wondering whether I could set up a third button function on the Avenue Pad 6.
Let the old mix with the new.

You could if your confident with a soldering iron. I was going to put the guts of a PCE pad into a SNES controller, and set up X and Y as an extra Select and Run. The only drawback is no turbo fire switches, and i didnt want to cut holes to put them anywhere. Maybe in the future.

Oh, that way.  I rather buy one than deface another controller.

I got my Avenue 3 in the mail the other day. Overall i like it. Its a little bigger than the original pad (slightly taller). Kinda reminds me of how big the genesis pad feels in your hands. But i like it, in a block sort of way. It functions just like its supposed to. A plus over the regular controller, is that the d-pad is not as stiff. The original pad would make my thumb sore after a long while, this doesnt.

Im sure nobody cares, but i just got done playing Ninja Spirit. It really makes the game much more enjoyable to be able to have the weapon change as a real button instead of Select. This controller is big and ugly, but MAN does it work great.

Oh sweet, I didn't know you could use the Avenue 3 with this game. That's cool! I need to get a Avenue 3 sometime.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

The bad controller is the avenue 6. Big and not comfortable :( The only good things are that it has 6 buttons and looks great. Nothing else. The D-Pad is rubbish.

I like the D-pad, buttons, and definitely the look of the Avenue 6, but I agree with it not being very comfortable, plus mine has a really annoying controller port problem. I quite like the Duo RX/whatever the other name pad is, I just wish it had concave style buttons like the Avenue 6.
