Another awesome post HardcoreOtaku, keep them coming man.

Cheers Mate, BTW I bought a Kindle recently and one of the first PDFs I stuck on it was the excellent "PC Engine Guide Book" scan you did a few years back.

Hardcore Otaking... I'd love to see the CVG feature if you get time to scan it one day. I still have all of my copies of EDGE but not a single issue of CVG.

The only thing is my scanner has a mind of its own, most of the time is doesn't work, it's a nightmare.
But yeh when I next get a chance I'll dig out the CVG issue and give the scanner a go.
The PC Engine feature is very different to the Edge one, as you know CVG was targeting a younger audience and had a different writing style.
If you want them I may have some CVG doubles you can have, I may even have a double of the PC Engine feature issue. I'll have a dig through see what I got, reason I'm not sure is I've got an Ikea shelving unit with thousands of magazines in it. Anyways send me a PM if you think you want them

And how awesome was Super Play magazine back then too!? Good times.

Super Play by a mile was my favorite magazine of all time, truly legendary!
Checkout this new fanzine influenced by it:

I had two full complete sets of Super Play but I gave one set to a friend, I think I've still got a few doubles though if you want them as well as the CVGs??

On a somewhat related note, the release dates page in the original post you linked back to appears to be announcing a HuCard version of Hellfire. I remember this vividly from the time the magazine was published as the CD version of Hellfire was already more than two years old by then, which made no sense at all. I never saw or heard any mention of it elsewhere at the time or after. I've always assumed it was an error, some crossed wires somewhere that lead to it ending up in that list, but it would be interesting to hear if anyone has any insight on this at all, rumours or otherwise.
I think Edge got all their PC Engine release dates/info from PC Engine Fan magazine. At some point I'll check some PC Engine Fan issues from the same time to see if there's anything about the Hellfire Hucard.

EDGE was something pretty special back then. I feel like they pioneered a more adult approach to gaming magazines in general (not to take anything away from the personality of CVG & Mean Machines).
That's definitely true, they pioneered that video game journalism can be for adults.
It felt like also it was a magazine for people who worked in the industry, it had a section with adverts for jobs.

Around the same period, EDGE also did a very similar article on arcade PCBs and the 'Supergun' (Did Raven Games originally come up with that name btw?).

Yeh I'm pretty sure Raven came up with the name "Supergun", I remember them selling them at the time and thinking it was an odd name, kinda cool name but odd.
Raven Games are still about, I think mainly selling on eBay now though.

I've never read Edge issue zero, I'd be interested to read it to see what they reviewed in mid 1993.

A great read though (like everyone else I suppose) I'm quite surprised to see read what the reviewer thought about Dracula X.  In what way is the soundtrack bland?  Graphics aren't up to the super league?  Did he see how varied the different zones are?  Did he not notice the spectacular animation of Richter and, well, damn near everything?

I think the reviewer must have been deaf and blind, personally.

That being said, I do very much like the PC Engine article and I'm glad that a cooky console from Japan got that much attention in an English magazine.
Current want list:  Bomberman 93

Just seen this on eBay auction, it's the same Edge issue these scans were taken from, currently at 0.99p with £2 shipping.
