Core Grafx power supply?
« on: July 25, 2015, 02:12:15 PM »
I'm in the U.S., and I've read conflicting reports about whether or not I can use a Master System power supply (Model: 3025) with a Core Grafx system. I have an official Genesis model 1 power supply, but it's the 1602-3 model, which outputs 10V instead of 9V for some reason. I can't seem to find a clear answer on whether or not it's okay to use it with the Core Grafx; that's why I thought the Master System plug might be better.

You can see the 1602-3 model here:

I'd prefer to use the Master System power supply, because I no longer even have the Master System console, but I just want to use whichever power supply is safer. I would appreciate any input. Thanks.

I use a Genesis Model 1 Power supply on my Core Grafx and it works fine.  The M1 Genesis adapter is the same as the Sega CDs and the Master System adapter as far as I know.

Actually I use my M1 power to run a lot of stuff like Fami/Twin Fami/NES/Super Fami

Thanks for your input. So you think either my 1602-3 Genesis power supply or my SMS power supply is fine?

Although the NES can take many different power supplies, you should make it clear in threads like this that doing the reverse will fry your consoles.

Yes, it'll be fine assuming you are using an original Sega power adapter.

Also an incredibly good point, never use the NES power adapter for anything besides an NES.  I actually just have my original one stuck away in the closet and not plugged in for fear I might accidentally mix up wires someday and fry something.

Yes, both my SMS and Genesis power adapters are Sega brand. You're saying either one will be fine? I prefer to use the SMS one, if possible, because I don't even have a Master System anymore.
