Odd sync issue?

Here's a weird one.
I am experiencing what looks like loss of sync while playing any game. It appears to happen while my character is in a certain location or when something happens on screen. Here are a couple pictures of lode runner. One is at the start of the level, where the picture is fine. The next are as my character moves further into a far corner. This happens so badly that it is unplayable and the screen will go completely black occasionally...
This is on composite, straight into the TV, because the vp30 will have none of it, dropping out completely.


I forgot to mention, this is happening while AV is connected through the super cd rom, but does NOT happen with I connect through the PCE itself....

Super weird but turns out it's just a shoddy av lead. Wired up a new one and everything is OK. Never thought that would cause something like this.
The character spacing made it seem so weird...
