For folks who feel this game is easy, you will eventually face the Generalissimo.

He is not a pushover. Be ready. Fancy footwork.

And...

Beating the General definitely takes a little patience and some luck, since some of his random attacks are easier than others. The other boss fight (where hubris gets the best of you and you somehow agree to fight a guy who has rockets with only a knife) is also fairly challenging as well and a fun scenario that most games of this ilk wouldn't think to do. It's a game all about power ups, but what if they force you to play with nothing? Great game.

I actually had a friend over who is recently getting into PC engine and I loaded this game up on my Everdrive as he had never heard of it.

It was a fair amount of fun, however, I really dislike the bike controls. It feels just really weird. But overall I will most likely pick up the game again this week and play for a few hours anyways.

The flamethrower is lots of fun, IMHO. You can use it conservatively (in very short bursts—tap the button—you'll never run out of fuel). Of course that isn't as much fun as holding down on the button for a few seconds and going full-pyro.

"I'm gonna burn you with these flames."

You don't have to use the motorcycle. It's just a bit of fun to speed things up.

Controlling the motorcycle is clunky as hell, but because it gives you virtual invisibility it's still pretty fun to use.  The problem with the bike is a problem that extends to the entire game and many of the earlier TG-16 games, and that's the lack of diagonal movement.  Not sure why the system was so bad for that - the NES had been doing that for years before the Turbo launched.  Because there's no diagonal movement (or animation) the bike is either horizontal or vertical, which looks hilarious when you're driving it around.

One of my top games of all time!  And it kills the arcade version(IIRC, it even runs faster).  Never thought about the lack of diagonal control, never seemed like an issue with this game for some reason.

So last night I got to what I thought was the last boss, then there was an awesome plot twist, and I had to go to bed. I am going to give it another shot, but man this game is fun and addicting. There are some really cool parallaxing in the water scenes, and the large character sprites are detailed and impressive. I die a lot in this game but it seems very forgiving. Good times, thanks for the suggestions!

Why disguise steroids as...

Muscle
Emphasis
Tablets

...when you are knifing enemies and they die in bloody pools of cherry red?

You can definitely move diagonally on the motorcycle, as well as on foot.

Love these type of games but sadly, never got to try this one extensively. I just played the first levels, it seemed like a very cool commando game, but I find it odd that it doesn't support 2-players. I hope to get the Turbochip someday.

It's a great one-player game.

I wonder if the slowdown would have affected 2-player co-op? I wouldn't want less enemies, but MORE for a 2-player jaunt....

I guess, instead of increasing the number of enemy sprites, making them more formidable (swifter AI, higher hit points) would result in a very satisfying 2-player co-op...
