Wonder Boy in Monster Land. Sore thumb.
« on: January 02, 2016, 12:20:29 PM »
Had some time to play some video games for the first time in 3 months. Decided on playing the English translated Wonder Boy since I had never played it. I am a big fan of dragons curse so I felt the need to give the first installment of this series a go.

Overall I think it's a great game. Once I figured out that I could continue by pressing up and run together. That time limit stuff is really annoying. Other then that I enjoyed the game quite a bit. The first two stages were kind of bland but after that things really seemed to get going. Did not beat it so I'll have to get back to it again when I have more time.

Today my left thumb is absolutely killing me when I bend it. I think I played the game for about 2 hours yesterday. Used a regular style pc engine game pad. Never had this problem before but maybe I'm getting old. Hah

May have to resort to a Joystick for future game play.

I am interested in playing this.  Was this not released in America?  Can you show a picture of the game or a link to it.  Thanks.

It is a great game.

Inexpensive PCE HuCARD.

You should not have any hesitation to pick it up...if you get stuck, there are guides/FAQs...

...of course, I first played it to death on SMS...so I am biased.

Thanks.  Seems cool.  I'm gonna try to snag a copy.

So I guess the way to play it in English would be to get the rom on an everdrive and apply the English patch?

yeah, the only way to play the English version would be to have a flash card of some sort. However, it would really not be difficult at all to play without English. it doesn't rely on text nearly as much as dragon's curse did since this is mainly an action platformer. There are maybe a few secrets here in there that you may not be able to find without English but you would definitely be able to play through the game.

You need English for the part when an end of level bad guy asks you a question. You find the answer by buying two drinks from a squirrel type chick in a door on the same level.
