Pulled my TurboCD box out of storage...
« on: April 11, 2016, 09:15:57 AM »
and I forgot how big it is!  Still in very nice condition, almost like it just came out of Toys R Us after sitting on the shelf for a year.  The label on the side of the box is still intact, dealer was supposed to take it off for warranty purpose but I guess someone at Toys R Us forgot or it wasn't needed since TG-16 and CD was about ended in favor of Duo and I got my CD on clearance sale for under $100 (can't remember, no receipt saved)

Several foam blocks are still in along with few wraps, TurboCD manual, brochure, and original NEC AV cord were still in the box. I think I used RF at first and when I got AV, I didn't come back to the box for the original AV cable. Unfortunately the AV cable had melted into the foam due to plasticizer reacting.

I am a tad sad however, the serial number on the bottom of the box did not match the serial number on the CD or base unit.  I don't know if it was something at TRU or at NEC but it was mixed up and quite a large skip in serial number.  Were they supposed to match anyway?

Not sure, but that sounds likely, maybe it had been refurbished and they slapped it into the wrong box?

Cleaned and dusted it off, the box seems complete and even comes with foam sheets for wrapping around the case and the CD base unit, a couple plastic bags for the cables, and no other styrofoam damage.

Going to upload picture, need to take one more picture as I forgot to take an all-important picture with paper of my forum name and date, then I can post to sale section.  It is a very nice box and set and I'd rather it go to someone who has the room to display everything and can show off rather than shoved back into attic for another 25 years.

PS any idea what it may be a good price?  CD and base works, CD rail was cleaned and relubed last year and the middle gear was drilled out slightly larger so it won't crack. It may however need recap someday, and the base unit is a pain in the ass to recap because the 3 board will not detatch from the wire cables so it's very floppy mess as one flips around to desolder and remove old caps, check for trace problem and fix if needed, and install new caps.  I did a different base unit a couple years ago, too much trouble.
