Burning ISO + MP3 (Space Fantasy Zone)
« on: September 11, 2006, 01:00:00 PM »
I just acquired an ISO + MP3 of Space Fantasy Zone and I want to burn and play it.  It is ISO + MP3.  No CUE file or anything like that, but there is an MP3 for track 1, the ISO is track 2, and then the subsequent MP3s fill the rest of the tracks.  I have both Mac and Windows.  I would like to illegally burn this game and illegally play it.  Can anyone provide instructions on how to do so?  I wish it were WAV or AIFF files, but MP3s are deemed as "more illegal" so MP3s it must be.

And yes, if it works I can host the file for others to illegally download.

Yeah, when I do find an ISO of a PCE game online its usually in this ISO+MP3 BS format, so I just avoid it since I can't figure out how to burn the things, and I'm not interested in playing them in emulators.

i think this could work:
use nero and create a mixed cd
use the numbers given on the files for the track #. And just add one after each other. I think it might work. And if it doesnt, you just wasted a few cents.

I did it long time ago and it worked.

I add the track1.mp3 and then I add the ISO and Nero tells me that it cannot read the file.  Same thing happens in Mixed Mode on Toast for Mac.

No,no,no..!

If you can't locate a better copy than the ISO/MP3 then here's how you do it.

If you have nero, use the "encode files" from the "extras" tab at the top. Load in the MP3's and select wave/PCM as the output. Encode. Now you'll have the audio tracks in wave format. Next - goto necstasy.emunova.net and download TocFixer. Run TocFixer, locate the game in the profile list, change the "open" to the folder of the ISO and the WAVE tracks only( do not have the MP3's in the same folder), it will take care of the rest for you and build a CUE sheet as well. NOTE: the files must all have the same name structure, i.e. "track01.wav track02.iso". If the waves are shorter than 2 seconds, you'll have to open the INI file for TocFixer and change the MAX from 2 to whatever(7 seconds?). Onnne moooore thing, if TocFixer complains about the last missing data track, then make a copy track2 and rename it as the last track number. Simple as pie.

There is a place, far from here - of all things Turbo/PCE. Were perfect images lay waiting to be picked for your pleasure. This not be from a website my friends. <- 6 edits later and I finally fixed that stupid paragraph :x

OK that worked and the game was playable, but whoever was responsible for the audio in the conversion did a bad job as the audio simply cuts out a few seconds before it finishes... even in the "original" MP3s.

Sometimes people rip the 'PREGAP' of the audio as well and when TocFixer looks to correct the track size for important alignment reason, the last 2 seconds or so of the audio gets clipped instead.

They were clipped in the MP3 files that I downloaded so it is the fault of whoever made the MP3.  The audio starts right at the beginning of the file, but then there are like 4 or 5 seconds of silence at the end (no fade, just an abrupt clip), 2 of those seconds were clipped by the TOC Fixer program.
