Adapt custom Fightstick to Pc Engine
« on: August 03, 2016, 02:41:48 AM »
Hi everyone!

I've build an Arcade Stick and we are in love :D

I would like to adapt it to Pc Engine too, is anybody aware of a pre-made PCB that simply works out of the box or any specifications of a working Pc Engine gamepad?

I would prefer not to destroy a working Pad to achieve the final result, if possible.

Thanks for your help.

There's lots of info about the PCE pads available, including a basic schematic for the 6 button controller which is available over on nfg: http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=3734.0
- you should be able to build the guts of one pretty simply with 4 74LS chips and a few resistors.

As for anything prebuilt, not that I know of. I maintain a project called UPCB which I'm just fixing the PC Engine handling of at the moment (since I finally obtained one), but I don't think anyone sells prebuilt kits any more. This is my github page for it: https://github.com/fluxcorenz/UPCB (including lots of info in the wiki), and the original forum thread on shoryuken is at http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?p=3898091 , but I think you need to be logged in to view these days. I can't imagine you're interested in going through the hassle of making one, though.

Good luck...

Just had a google for you...

Should be able to make some kind of vero board... Maybe if you make the board detachable then make something similar for other consoles to make it more adaptable...

Plus... PICS???? I love a good diy fighting stick!!

I'll do a vero layout for you at some point tomorrow.... I was planning on doing something similar for me anyway so might as well kill 2 birds and all that! :D

Also just realised that you'll need some kind of switches for the buttons if you haven't got them already... I forgot that bit!!! :)

Wow, this is pure gold, Shughs81!

It looks challenging indeed...

Do you think all parts can be found easily on the internet?

I am a bit shy to show it because it is my 1st model and it has many estetic and functional flaws but...

WHAT THE HELL! :D

Thanks for asking for pictures:

Nothing wrong with that!!!

Had a look and parts are pretty easy to come by..  Can buy 50 of the chips for £25 so reasonably cheap...

Vero lay out has turned out a bit more complicated.... May have a look at matrix board to make it smaller...

What are you using the arcade stick for?? Got plenty of room in there so you could fit a few different consoles Gubbins inside!!!

I like how it looks but the design is simple enough you could totally do it up if you wanted!!!

Thanks I am happy you like it!

I made it big because I like sturdy / heavy feeling on my lap and, of course, for future change / implementations like this one :)

Main use was for all the Street Fighter flavours and Neo Geo stuff but now I feel like it is the best way to go for pre-analog games :)

I also found this kind of toy, quite interesting:
http://www.tototek.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=23&products_id=51

I think I need to build some kind of little pcb where I connect all the buttons and then, with a switch, have an internal selector between different "out" connections (for pc engine and Neo Geo, basically: pc and usb consoles are already fine)

I simlpy made a padhack so that I am still able to normally use the controller: There's a wire coming out of the controller with a D-SUB 15 pin connector that I use to connect it to my arcade controller.
