On a semi-related note to Zeta's story, my parents once had some jackhole cut into their Geo Tracker looking for shit to steal.  Nothing was visible from outside and they ended up taking nothing (there was a tool kit and flashlight under the seat), but they had to replace the pricey top.  A side window probably would've been cheaper..... or the a$$holes could've just unzipped the top; it's not like those things lock.

In California, I would routinely leave my old water bottles and Diet Coke cans in my car.

The next day, they were removed from the passenger seat.

Nothing else taken or disturbed.

Now, EAST COAST, nobody takes my recycling from my car for me.

:)

That's because Captain Planet, in his old age, only services the west coast...

I never lock my car or interior stuff. If someone is desperate enough to steal a $6 phone charger, so be it.

Fun fact in CA each piece of recycling fetches you 5 to 10 cents including plastics.  in other words, you can make about $5 to $20 a day bringing in recyclables you find on the street.  Which doesn't sound like much, but it can be in the right circumstances.  here in NJ you don't see this as much for 3 reasons.  We have no such advertised rule on guaranteed price, In most municipalities, it is illegal to collect recyclables from the cities cans.  (the towns want the recycling money)  and finally, you are stuck with the price per weight paid by the scrap yard.  (and most only take aluminum/steel cans, bottles etc.)

although I do make good money off of cans everytime I go to a family BBQ though.  one standard garbage can full fetches somewhere about 20 bucks.

NW: Hey, I made it on this psycho's Enemies' List, how about that ?? ;)

BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere.

In my town a few weeks ago, some guys with guns went to rob this girl and steal her car. Once they realized her car was stick shift, they kidnapped her so she could drive the car. She managed to live through it, but the dudes got away. This world is f*cked.

Captain Planet doesn't like the snowy winters here in NJ. I understand. Shoveling the sidewalks/driveways sucks.

Totally. There were kiosks at supermarkets to return recyclables...which was nice for small amounts...but if you had a huge barrel of stuff, the recycling centers would weigh it (same rate).

I had forgotten about the kiosks. They were really convenient.

I owned an old VW beetle years ago and never locked the doors because I didn't actually have a key. Some jackass stole my tape deck and left the door open. I didn't care about the stereo but I was annoyed that they didn't close the door. Rude.
