What year did they release a memory card for the PC-E/Turbo?

1988 I think.

The SNES had a 3 slot memory card (box with tails) which plugged into the controller port.

Don't forget the hardware save state that plugs into the cart slot.

I saw one of those in a pawn shop, with no AC cable for $19.

The "+" model allows you to insert 4 AA batteries for a whopping 3-5 hour save. For certain problem games you must insert between 1-4 6 digit codes at the startup screen. The game saver also has built in slow down functions. This product, while a great concept, doesn't work for shit. If it works at all, it usually screws up the graphics and music.

Wow, wow what a great product.  I think I'll take the SRAM (or whatever it is) copier any day over this piece of garbage.

The Gamesaver lets you run Super Famicom games, though.

What are you talking about the Game Saver  + or whatever was AWESOME, it was save states before there were save states.  You weren't supposed to let it sit forever, the point was to help you beat those games that lacked save/password features and sent you back to the beginning, or to beat games that had ultra hard parts you couldn't get past.  I never had any problems with the one I had back in the day, if fact that's the only way I was able to beat Actraiser 2 (f*cking hardest game ever created).

It would be funny to tell n00bs that the GameSaver+ only worked with the New Game+ mode in Chrono Trigger...
