Who likes Guardian War music for 3DO?
« on: December 26, 2007, 08:16:01 PM »
I can't remember who it was hear that likes Guardian War music, & even provided some of it for me in a Rar file.  Anyways, I started working on putting together the ost, but, after doing about 10 songs, I went & listened to the songs in the rar file, & their in stereo, but mine aren't.  Now, my question is, did you alter those to sound like their in stereo, or am I gonna have to hook up my setup a different way to re-record my stuff in stereo.  The way I have it, I thought would work just fine, but, now I'm thinking I need to hook it up differently ](*,)

It was me.  You never sent that $500.00 you promised.

Mine were recorded from a real 3DO.  Get it?  R.E.A.L.  The original $700 unit.  Fo' shizzle.  Maybe the later models were only in mono or something.  I did not modify them.  The way I hooked it up was like this:  Left audio jack had a cable that went in to the LEFT input on my MiniDisc recorder.  Then, in addition to that I had YET ANOTHER CABLE.  Yes, it seems like overkill, but you really do need two cables.  I plugged that extra cable into the RIGHT output of the 3DO and it went in to the RIGHT input of my MiniDisc player.  Also, cursing at Trip Hawkins really helps the sound quality, I find.

I couldn't find any cables long enough to reach my computer, except for a cable that converts it to one of those small head phone jacks.  It could be that the head phone jack I used, is mono, though, I don't know why I would've bought a mono jack.  I'll have to maybe go into my shed to see if I have anyother audio cables.

Does the headphone jack have 1 or 2 black (or other color plastic) rings on it?  1 is mono, 2 is stereo (if you see a 3rd it is usually a jack for phantom power or some other kind of voltage signal).

It has 2 black rings.  Maybe something else is the problem, maybe where I was hooking it up, Line in 2 is mono, but, I don't know why it would be.  Either way, I'll try to find some regular cables to hook it up.

I think you guys are talking about the plug and not the jack.  The jack is the hole.  Think of the plug as a penis and the jack as a sexy vagina.  The vagina could be mono, especially if you plugged it into the MIC vagina instead of the LINE IN vagina.  Dude, you just stuck it in the wrong hole!!

Aha!  I just noticed that it says Line In 2/Mic In 2, that's the problem #-o

I can't give a technical explanation, but I can tell you that using the wrong hole can cause unwanted squealing.  Wait, what were we talking about?

Why MIC jack > Line In jack:

1. Buy a Yamaha PSR-290.

2. Using the very limited form of synthesis available to you (via the voicings), combine the "Electric" and "Analog" drum kits.

3. Set the DSP to "Overdrive" and set DSP levels for both kits to 127.

4. Plug this into the MIC jack of a Soundblaster 16 running Windows 98.

5. Crank it up in the mixer.

6. Make hardcore robot techno until the neighbors come!

I would only do that (and own such hardware and run such an operating system) if I hated all semblances of quality.

No seriously, it sounds f*cking awesome. If my PSR-290 still had battery life, I would record it.
